Auto standby has been enabled on all boxes for all times of day. You should be able to turn it off in the main menu somewhere.

It makes no difference to the energy consumption on standard boxes if you disable it as only the video and audio circuits are disabled in standby, everything else is still active.

ta for that, changed it in the menu and now working no worries.

One of my receivers, a Thomson DSI4214 doesn't seem to have had the new software for auto s/by even after doing a manual software update ??

The identical Pace has it with an EPG version 3.6.7 ok.

The Forced Download (Manual Update) only carries the last fully rolled out and proven stable software, which is 3.6.4.18, so you can't hurry along the 3.7.6 which introduces the pointless Auto Standby.

Generally, once all Box Models and variants have been sent (but not always received!!) the new version, the cycle begins again to catch those Boxes which missed it first time around (Like my own DS430N) and only then will it go on the FD stream.

There are some bugs being found with 3.7.6:

No sound on Sky News InterActive

No sound on LBC Radio

Sit back and wait then although I have seen the new version 3.7.6 on three different receivers this morning.

Well on Sunday/monday my 430N updated and Auto-Standby suddenly appeared as services mernu "5". Switching this to 'Off' cured the problem, but I got another problem then of no sound on SKY News Active.
Today, Wednesday, it has all reverted - auto-standby option is no longer there, and the receiver had gone into standby mode overnight. The 'no-sound' problem has disappeared however!
So, looks like SKY is messing about trying to find a fix that works for us all,
Geoff,
Sunny Cyprus.

Lots of reports from vaguely dischuffed DS430N owners.

Mine was in Standby again this morning yet I don't think I've actually had 3.7.6 at all, as yet - It seems they have "reverted" those DS430Ns that actually had been "upgraded" while they fix the fix that was supposed to fix a problem that we didn't have before they decided to fix it :-slaphead

Typical Sky. Thankfully I never pay these turkeys a bean.

hi to all,
it looks like in the event to go green they did an update.
it has affected the global SMC as well.
this SMC resets the sky box if the mains goes out and turns the sky box on automaticlly.
being that ITV on on a backup transponder the others option that was on 6 has now moved to 7.
so the SMC counts to 6 and enters and resets the first option.
being that option 6 is now favorites it will not reset at all.
i called global in the uk now globalinvacom and they say there is no update for the SMC because there is not a large request as of yet.
so for now if you deactivate the auto off option the box should stay on.
and if you are running this on a ups that should be ok for 95% of the times.
just thought someone wanted to know

For those that don´t know the Global SMC is a product that connects to a sky box via the RF 2 output and uses the same commands that a remote eye uses. This product can then switch a sky box out of standby and change to a particular channel.
They are normally used in complexes etc where there may be multiple sky boxes feeding many apartments. Basically it means no-one has to reset the sky box each time there is a power failure.

Cheers

The SMC v1.5 & v2 never access the 'other channels' option anyway.:confused:confused

The unit monitors audio & video and resets the receiver to a channel in programmed in the EPG.

From start up, the SMC will count down and bring the box out of s/by, from 998 it will then give a back up command (overcomes the telephone backup) and then further count down to asign a channel number.

Hi and thanks
being that itv on 103 will not come in here its on astra 2d do it is available on a back up transponder on 12.402 ghz vert.
this was loaded in the others section do the smc will reset the box, then it goes to 103, then it sees no signal, then it goes to others,(was opt 6) then enters and picks the first channel.
it worked fine.
now it does all of the but in the opt 6 its favorites and it picks the first one and its bbc 1 and no go.
i called global uk to see if i can get this SMC to count to 7 and not 6 before entering and they say no.
unless they have a large request there will be no upgrade in softwere.
smc will be deleated soon.
i have deactivated the standby in section 5 and have this runing on a ups.
this should help a bit.
well thats all for now.

I've installed both v1.5 and v2 and wasn't aware of a function on the smc software that would allow a goto 'option 6' (other channels) command :confused :confused but I'm keen to learn new tricks :)

Why don't sky tell people about this upgrade ? I get calls every day from people who are complaining about their boxes going to standby. At least on the sky+ it would go off in the early hours but on the standard digiboxes it will go off after a couple of hors when left on the same channel.
So those who set their video/dvd recorders on timer will be most annoyed.I know its a ten second procedure to disable, but most customers will call after a week of finding their boxes in standby in the morning, thinking its the weather or something.
