..My head hurts ...cos this doesn't compute ..errror -error- malfunction ...brain implosion imminent

To compare the S9HD and the F15 for sig strength ..I selected the Egypt testcard on 1W ...

S9HD 86% signal level 72% Quality...

F15 85% signal level 8.4db

moved the dish over to 10East ...

Checking both transponders on startimes

S9HD ..average approx 45% Signal less than 10% Quality..

F15 ..average approx 85% Signal level 6.5 on one tp 7.3 db on t'other..

It don't make sense...
doh!

Oh well ..
worth a try I suppose..
Hooked up the S9HD to exactly the same source..

If nothing else its proved the tuner in the F15 is vastly superior ..

Not sure if its too late to try ..but both the transponders I listed above are showing around 45 Signal ..and a fluctuating 7 to 10% Quality ...
Thats a huge difference from the F15 ..

So looks like lack of signal atm ..
And yet checking the channels at 1West ..shows little variation between the 2 boxes..
Confused ...I certainly am.

I agree Nelson ..
The overall signal level ..according to the F15 ..is up ...
The Openbox S9HD ..says its still 45% and unuseable ..
I can't get my head around it other than to say ...the F15 makes better use of the 85% signal it claims is there ..and yet wont lock it up ..cos the db level is pulsing ...yet the Sig level remains a constant 85%

There is something clearly odd about the signal ...or its that only certain receivers can make use of the signal..

i,v never before had a signal on this box that needed quality readings of over 60% to lock,

i use this box sometimes for viewing h.d. feeds and they can be weak signals sometimes, but they lock easier than this one --

thats it for tonight --- i think .

Hi friends ..
Just to illustrate the rather odd nature of these transponders ..
Here are a couple photos taken less than 5 minutes apart ..of the 2 receivers ..both the S9HD and F15
connected alternately to the same source.

...and with 3916R selected ...

Ignoring DB and Quality readings ....even the signal levels differ hugely ..and can't be relied upon.

curiouser and curiouser...
