Any suggestions how to stop the local cat from peeing in the tray of water we put out for the hedgehogs?

Put some form of cover over the water so that the cats can't do that, but the hogs can still get to it (needs to be securely fixed).

A more tech minded neighbour reckons he can make a raspberry pi recognise the heat signature of the cat, and have the pi activate the hose pipe.. a hose pipe toting gnome sounds brilliant
