Friend has problem with cctv. its fixed not ip. he has no picture on all cameras on tv. but channels show up on tv, he checked at night and no ld lights on camera,

Would cameras not work in day if power supply to cameras was faulty ?

Do you know if they are ccd or cmos cameras?

No sorry. it cant be cameras all 4 are down, I would have thought if it was dvr channels would not show on tv ?, if power to cameras was there it would light up ?, so I put it down to transformer for camera ?,

His house fuse tripped out and its not worked since power supply fault could have caused this ?

Most cctv cameras have a light sensor to switch on and off the ir's

So during the day you should not see them on, a thumb over the sensor sometimes helps to switch them in to night mode.

As all cameras don't work start with the dvr.

Is the dvr showing a power light? Or is the rj45 socket on the back light up or flashing?

Thanks another job for me to do :-doh
Nah, leave it on BST and in less than five months it'll be right again.

My philosophy:

If it changes automatically, great.
If it doesn't, leave it alone unless it's something like a central heating timer.

The only clock I really really on is the one on my iPhone, all others I distrust.

E.g. Pub clocks, just for one.

I have two ip cameras.a third on its way from china.I only use them for watching the birds on my tables.Up to now ispy has done the job, though recording leaves much to be desired.
I am on the forth day of a blue iris trial.I am impressed, it is very good.
I decided to buy a license
The price for two or more cameras is $59.55.I was prepared to pay that.
Problem, the price to us suckers over here is 62.99 pound.Should be about 48.I am not going to be ripped off like that.
I have tried some of the free ones in the past but could not get on with them.
Suggestions would be welcome.

Plug in a usb hdd and you can record the streams.

Takes up to 4 cameras in split screen or 1 in 1024 mode.

Two of the streams are from my Sherborne address, the other two are at my Yeovil address.

I do have a floureon 4 way recorder that I never bothered with until last week.It works fine with WiFi.I want to use it with Lan cables though. It has bnc connectors.I have two Lan to BNC convertors could not get it to work though. The camera coming is LAN only no WiFi.Blue iris looked to be the solution.I may have to persevere with the Floureon. If I cannot find a software solution.I will also look into that Foscam NVR.

The little switching power supply's for the cameras have a problem with voltage spikes on the AC mains, one spike high enough and they are toast.

I run all cameras to a single supply that is battery backed up and has voltage surge protection, or you can use a supply that will run all cameras and the DVR with a UPS system to protect them, this also allows the DVR and cameras to run when the AC power is out.

This also protects you from a burglar tripping the house main breaker to shut off the CCTV system.

The big problem with the IR night vision cameras is that at night the IR LED's can be seen, this gives away the fact that you have a CCTV system, to counter this I use a CCTV camera that does not have the internal IR LED's, then use some of these hummers to illuminate the cameras field of view.

No Red Glow 940nm IR LED Total Invisible Night Illuminator - ENC-900

Mounting these at the highest point of the roof keeps things out of reach for most burglars, they also run on 12 volts DC so a battery back up keeps them on when the power is out.

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

I've noticed with my camera, the red glow actually puts people off going into the yard, so having that red halo of awesome is useful, not so useful for someone else who might get broken into, but, they should also have a red halo on the go too... :D

I tried three software solutions last night.
Software hound.
Security eye.
Webcamep 5.
None will do for me.
I have found that a license for Blue iris can be got for £38 from Ebay.
I think that I will go that way.First though I will wait for my new camera to be delivered (Two week approx)To make sure that it works in the software ok.It is a motorised Varifocal camera it may come with some decent software.
Edit trying Genius Vision just now.It looks like it may do the job for me .If I can get the cameras working.not having much luck up to now.:)
