The problem with NYE being on a weekend is that there will be a skeleton staff in many news broadcasters (and internet broadcasters) and the crappy weekend programmes will have priority. Some old bonghead karking it doesn't help either. This will also be a problem next year, though NYE being on a Sunday should mean more people Chasing Midnight.

Edit: Just found this one that Global Canada are running. Seems to be switching throughout the day. Handy if you don't have access to Reuters.

First one I've seen from a news source. All the papers and TV channels seem uninterested this year.

I have to say I’m quite enjoying CNN’s dedicated coverage of the NYE celebrations around the world. They are already counting down to Korea. Seems a lot more effort has been put in this year.

Indeed about CNN, they are even using the New Years Eve Live branding, something they've previously used for US NYE.
