Hi,

Have read the various comments regarding the D15, can you tell me as there is no scart how I would connect it to my existing units, Panasonic TH-42PZ70B TV, TM 6902HD receiver, and a Panasonic DMR-EX78EB DVD recorder.

thanks

macx.

Hi all, I know a couple of you have mentioned about the no scart port. However all you need is a Scart to Component cable or adapter which are a relatively cheap solution to this problem for an otherwise great box :)

Just out of curiosity ..how does the tuner compare to the F15 ..
Does it use the same tuner ...?
If my F15 ever gives up ..I would naturally gravitate toward the D15 as a replacement ..but would need to be assured of the tuners sensitivity..
The very reason the F15 made such an impression as a DX box.
Anyone have both and compared ?

The problem with this box for me is the lack of outputs. Just one low quality composit analogue output is not great. Luckily I managed to get one of the last few F15 (even this I find restrictive with just one scart) but I think I'd go for a TM 5402 next time if I need another similar unit, as that also has RF out. I'd certainly like to test the sensitivity between the DRHD and TM boxes for myself.

Thanks satsecure for that info, here is a diagram of my setup and the rear view of the d15 can you indicate how to connect using a scart to component as suggested.

Just be aware the D15 doesn't have component output, just a lower quality composite video output. On my DVD recorder this results in a slightly more blurry picture when compared to a proper RGB scart connection. For higher quality recordings you'd want to keep recordings in digital form via USB hard disk or similar and then convert those to DVD later on a PC if you want them on DVD in the best possible quality.

The F15 has a much more sensitive tuner than the D15.
I have been testing them both side by side and on all types of scan the F15 is superior.

Considering the F15 is still available, there is no reason whatsoever to purchase the inferior D15.

Need some help on tracking down a F15 supplier. Can't seem to find any on the web, only for the D15. Would appreciate it if you point me in the right direction :).

Maybe they are using the same tuner in the F15 as the TM5502HD as I found the TM5502HD to be a far more sensitive tuner than the DrHD D15.

Dr HD d15, technomate f3/5, technomate 5402 m3, clarke tech 4100 hd > same tuner

And from what I can see here and elswhere is that sensitivity of (Dr HD d15, technomate f3/5, technomate 5402 m3, clarke tech 4100 hd) is inferior to (Dr HD f15, technomate 5402 m1, clarke tech 3100 hd).

What about HubTech units ?

Having tested both the d15 and f15, the latter has an extremely more sensitive tuner. However, my TM 5402 m3 has a much more sensitive tuner then the d15 and I would say even better then the f15.

I have a TM-5402 M1 and an F15 and there is nothing between them in signal sensitivity. However when it comes to clearing pictures each one clears pictures that the other one does not even though they both scanned them in OK.

Its just my personal opinion but I think the F15 is overrated, it is half decent, but it is not an absolutely fantastic receiver. My F15 is for sale in the classifieds if anyone wants to buy it, that's how much I think of it, its just another receiver that I wish I had not bothered buying.
