I don't bother with the BBC/MET office weather guesstimates, I've been relying on this weather site which has been more accurate than the MET guessings:

Weather Forecast & Reports - Long Range & Local | Wunderground | Weather Underground

They use all the weather measuring data they can get, from someone's weather station in their garden, to the ones at airports and transmitter masts, aswell as satellite imagery and all that... :)

Tchh - watching the local news (for LOCAL people) it clearly mentioned warm and humid but didn't say anything about sun except, possibly, towards the later afternoon/end of the day.
Yep ..I agree ...local news and weather for LOCAL people... I guess being more relevant..
cest la vie..

..he said cracking open another 'Can I Cant' .....
anyone got any 'Special' meat they wanna sell ???????

I find this method works well ...
_68878793_stone.jpg

..and yes there should be a stone on the end of the string ....but some idiot photographer missed it off ...
:D

I used to be able to get my own weather pics ...until someone decided to ruin 137.6mhz approx ..with pager data ..
I'm seriously considering joining the Meteosat/Metop club ...but they want about 100 euro just for access ...
then u gotta build your own station (10 deg East) ..
anyone done this ??

I am melting.... +30 degrees here feels like +50 elsewhere will less humidity.

Has anyone had air con installed in their house in the UK? I am seriously considering one for the bedroom and the office.

I've not been awake all that long, apparently it's 26 degrees outside already, but, I'm indoors and under my blanket cos I'm cold....... o_O

I'm sure if I went outside it'd be a bit warmer... :-rofl2

Back in the summer of '76 we changed our hours of working from 8:00 - 5:00 to a far more reasonable-to-work-in 5:00 - 1:00. It was a bit of a struggle to get up so early but after closing up we would all decamp to an open air swimming pool (in New Ferry if anyone's interested) to enjoy the rest of the day.

We were lucky that we could do that, not everyone can of course.

I spent the summer of 76 doing an Apprenticship secondment to GEC Mobile Radio which was at that time housed in a tin-roofed building. That hurt.

Mind you, the more enterprising engineers had fun killing flies by smearing a piece of vero with jam. A hand-cranked Megger was connected to alternate tracks.

Fly lands, crank turned, body swept away.

1976...the government appointed Denis Howell 'Minister For Drought'....then after the Summer ended, 'Minister of Floods'.....and during the harsh winter of 1978 - 79, the 'Minister for Snow'........had he hung on for a few years, he could have added plague and pestilence to his portfolio...

Remember those winds I refered to about a week ago ...due at the start of August ..
Well not quite storm force ..but ripped a bedsheet from the washing line ..and deposited it 2 backyards away ..
Max the 1.1m currently dancing 'the jig of death' when the westerly gusts hit ..
..and yep the jet stream is slap bang over Manchester ...again ....
More to come I suspect..
I 'heart' summer -----NOT

Hmm, noticed it was a tad breezy today... :D

Wanted to throw a slice of cow onto my new Weber BBQ today, but the weather fought me at every turn, not quite learned the canadian grillin' in all seasons technique yet...:-doh
