Of the manufacturesrs you have listed, I think that the only ones still in production are DH and Primesat? I am not sure if Kathrein or IRTE are still manufacturing 2.4m or larger dishes? You may need to look for an old PF dish that is in good condition?
IRTE make antennas up to 4m (if you ask them nicely).

You will have to determine the final dish type before anyone could advise on the feed and front end components. Rimantss aluded to this earlier in the thread.
hi,
decision on final dish to mount strictly depends on inspection's results on the roof !

it is not only my preference or availibility of the product !

the fact is that mine is a 10 floor building and interspace between external slab and attic roof seems to be not so relevant: it should be eventually built a reinforced concrete plinth to anchor the antenna (over 2 m) to the slab!

an expert installer will work alongside me in this project and he has just told me to pay attention to total weight of equipment in relation to maximum load tolerance....that's to say 1,8 m antenna is totally different from a 2,4 m antenna!

given the above, I hope to find a 2,4 m antenna to have chance to get C-band signals knowing full well that lower diameter prevent any concrete chance of it !

that said, any advice is welcome!

3m mesh (possibly micromesh) and you're good. At extreme overload it will be mesh first blown away before any damage to the rest of the structure is made...

3 m mesh is out-of-limit for the roof of my building!
maximum diameter = 2,7 (eventually Laminas as-2700)

assuming possibility of mounting on my roof an antenna bigger than 1,8 m , I'd be glad to have all elements to make a comparison between :
- IRTE 2,4 (if available) vs DH 2,4
- AJAK H-H 180 vs Egis

…...…. some technical and practical details for a complete analysis.........:)

and what about a new DH 2,4 PF ?

spun aluminium, f/d aprox. 0,35, adjustable feedhorn, not relevant weight ….

in case of unfavourable limits of weight on the roof better to combine it with an Egis in polarmount or an AJAK 180 (if any available ) ?

do you know if a DH is sold with a mounting pole and a back ring ?

a point in favour of IRTE or LAMINAS or PRIMESAT is definitely lower delivery costs and no risk of damage of the product !

@mirko73 did you set up the price limit for your project? Roughly?

...do you know if a DH is sold with a mounting pole and a back ring ?

If you buy a brand new DH antenna from the USA they will sell you the back ring with it at extra cost. Shipping in a wood crate from the USA will be high price. If you are considering this option why not go for DH 2.7m antenna at probably same shipping cost?

DH 2,7 m exceeds weight for Egis !

Looking at some US sites total amount including shipping costs for a DH 2,4 is aprox 1.500 $ ...….

Not totally convinced to order it from USA for additional reasons besides costs:
- customs clearance
- risk of damages
- risk of troubles for back ring adapter with Egis
- effective installation by my installer

Living in Italy it should be easier and safer to make an order for IRTE , PRIMESAT or eventually LAMINAS (offset)!

In a short time, January 2020, in Italy and Europe 5G will definitely acquire frequencies dedicated to digital terrestrial and so many disturbances will take place in normal C-Band range 3,4-4,2 GHz .
In wimax interferences and 5G bandwidth, my project to receive C-band (and not only Ku-band) means to select a complete reception system (antenna + feedhorn + front-end components lnb, waveguide,filters…...) to receive all possible signals in C-band extended 3,7-4,8 GHz!

In this context I ask all you experts to kindly support me in selecting ALL RECEPTION SYSTEM COMPONENTS ….

Nothing beats a good sized ditch to bury the antenna in.

hi CH,
i've read of it but that's not a practicable solution .

in Brazil-Asia- Emirates it'a long time that Dxers catch up signals in low band with allround 5g/wimax tower disturbances (less than 300-400 m from antenna ), using big PFA - feedhorn -transition OMT / waveguide -LNB PLL with special filters to operate extended band

Professional systems vs commercial systems : big technological divide …...

@mirko73 If I were you I would start with something more tenable than exploring of possibilities and continue creation obstacles. I would make stable platform on the roof which could hold maximum possible weight. Then I would invest in the antenna, maximum size and affordable money-wise. Firstly I wold look in local second-hand market (you never know what you really can get there). Who knows, maybe antenna will come already polar-mounted or with H-H motor! Then, depending on the antenna I got, I would look for best way how to motorize it, how to make multifeeds and how to guard from 5G influence. Other-ways, this discussion can go on and on, years long, but always theoretical (unfortunately). That how I would go forward. Of course, it is purely up to you what to do and how to do.

So far, you have not mentioned you might consider going for a big PFA.

@RimaNTSS
my intentions are clearer than they seem in the previous posts!

practically :
- I've limits of weight and max diameter on roof and in a short time i will explore with an expert for stable location and platform to mount in right way all equipment
- I'm not enthusiast to have used materials on a roof (i need something definitive having no time to go up and down from my home to check every time )
- I'm not interested in polar-mount (normally too heavy, slow and max 140° of excursion), a little bit interested in new H-H only if real a 180° excursion as it is for Egis
- I want to select antenna - feedhorn - front end components (included shielded wiring) preferably as parts of a Whole, because of wimax and 5G influence

I'm clearly speaking of EGIS IN POLARMOUNT to be mounted on:
- Irte 2,4m (available?)
- Primesat 2,3m (available?)
- Prodelin 2,4m ( ok for diameter but not for weight on Egis)
- Laminas 2,7m (this is ok for weight but not for diameter on Egis).
Particularly Prodelin and Laminas can be equipped with advanced Feedhorn plus transition waveguide/OMT plus LNB's filtered to avoid 5G and wimax interferences.

As said it's up to you kindly integrate with best components to be assembled , all these suggestions based on your experiences of materials and installations .

OK, I remember you have said about maximal size of the antenna, which is 2.7m, but what is maximum weight of whole installation?

I'm not enthusiast to have used materials on a roof
Here I do not understand you at all... why should I buy same equipment 5x more expensive if I can get it used? Used does not always mean bad.

I'm not interested in polar-mount (normally too heavy, slow and max 140° of excursion)
I do not know what will be your aim at the end, but, do you really need very fast zapping between satellites? As far as I know, 36"actuator can easily turn antenna up to 3m and if it is properly attached to the mount then it can really go H-H. Yes, it will take ~ 2minutes to go H-H, but so what?! Hurry?

a little bit interested in new H-H only if real a 180°
Almost 100% sure you will never get brand new Ajak H-H engine, they are not in production anymore. Most likely, you will also not get brand new EGIS engin, even if you do not like used equipment.

I want to select antenna - feedhorn
And, again, be realistic.... how many realistic choices do you have by now? As far as I see none.
