Yes DVB-S2X works fine with DVB-S2 of course. Have it in both my VU+ DUO 4K SE and the Octagon SF8008.
DVB-S2X does also mean the recevier can cope with Multistream transmissions.
What kind of multistream transmissions, are such from Hotbird ?

I believe there are no transmissions of that type on Hotbird.

Hi, talking about receiving signals from 13°East, I found out that aligning the skew of my dish (sometimes it's better to do it, especially between cold and warm seasons) I had to turn the LNB clockwise less than a millimeter and I had a change, a good one ! You can see "before" and "after", first H and then V. I got a bit higher gain, a better C/N. That's why it's important to re-align the dish every now and again !
That's my values from Rome.

H scan, before and after skew alignment.

So it goes without saying, when Hotbird switches satellites, that people must go and buy an expensive receiver while the excisting one is doing fine.
There is no DVB-S2X on the three old Hotbirds.

One can see satellite dishes where people live in tents all year round..
Maybe some let DVB-S do.

Well if you look at Hotbird (and Astra 19,2E/28,2E) there still are quite a few using DVB-S but many have switched to DVB-S2. DVB-S2X isn't used for regular programming on these satellites yet. Actually it isn't used much at all.
But an upgrade of your receiver from only DVB-S I would say is absolutely necessary.
I have just upgraded my current Vantage 8000S and my Vu+ Duo2 with a Vu+ Duo 4K SE and an Octagon SF8008 to be future proofed.

what frequencies are these? can t find them on Kingofsat!
Look at Paolo71's scans in post 243. All of those you mentioned appear to be data so nothing to get excited about.

I remember last year reading news about the transition of the Swiss package to broadcasting to this technology . It may be a reserved frequency for Swiss terrestrial broadcasting.

Mentioned here three Swiss channels in DVB-S2X from year 2018. Not sure if this is outdated.
I think terrestrial broadcasting stopped in Switzerland in year 2019.
DVB-T2X somewhere ?

The post was about the fact that there is nothing in MultiStream on HB, not about the fact that you cannot extract the stream on your HW
