Ignominious end for Ricciardo.

Shame really as he showed us some decent talent - especially when he was Vettel's teamie.

Audi is allegedly joining in a few years, just as petrol disappears.

Audi joining F1 has been a rumour for quite a long time, guess they'll use/develop the same engine as Porsche. Supposedly they'll be using 'sustainable' fuel from 2025. Hopefully more manufacturers means less pay drivers.

Sustainable fuel.

A star drive ?
fuel
Vettel runs his FW14B on it. €6 a litre. No idea how much power it produces compared to traditional racing fuel but if we can have nice sounding race engines again it'll do.

You mentioned sustainable. Renewables have never been.
I put it in inverted commas, it's what others are calling it. There's always extra that doesn't get reported. Prime suspect being EVs and their batteries.
Combusting Hamilton's attire might get his vehicle once around the track, but that tyre/brake/cylinder wear is going to need a serious rethink along with the wiring loom and precious metals in the intelligent part.
Exactly.

If 'sustainable' fuel is all that's required for the authorities to allow ICE racing to continue I'm all for it.

Ugh Sky has extended its F1 broadcast rights deal to 2029 :-doh

Now talking about 'awarding points whenever the cars are on track... to improve the show' which sounds like more less free practice and more sprint races. Oh dear.

The Yanks are turning a fine British institution into a farcicle firework ridden spectacle, a banner waving lottery that is destroying development and creativity. They seem more concerned about what body piercings drivers have rather than the progress of an industry, BTW do they check drivers for Prince Alberts before races? Or are they just a bunch of hypocrites? It seems the latter because more important rules were obviously broken last year but it was conveniently all swept under the carpet until last week.

Yep I'm thoroughly disillusioned with F1 at the moment. Many, many things to complain about but picking one - If a team breached the budget cap last year they should be disqualified from the championship otherwise there's no point having the budget cap in the first place. Teams will happily overspend if the penalties are soft.

From andrewbensonf1 on Twitter: "The FIA has made an offer to Red Bull for the terms of an "accepted breach agreement" for them breaching the cost cap. Details, as with all issues on this matter, are confidential for now. Now Red Bull have to decide whether to accept or go before an adjudication panel"

An accepted breach agreement is nothing more than Red Bull having to say 'sorry sir, won't do it again' :-doh :(

Congratulations to ozumo for taking P1 and P2 in the fantasy league this year (and to JimmyH for P3). Sadly I could only manage fourth (again). I am thinking long and hard about taking part next year. I no longer have the enthusiasm for F1 that I once had and apart from checking the results and race reports on the web, I don't bother with televised coverage. I find much more enjoyment in watching Youtube videos of the Goodwood Revival. Maybe it's nostalgia or just getting old.....
