I use homeplugs, they are my only option, seem fine to me.
Now, when the Raspberry Pi arrives......

(Didn't want to fork out for Homeplugs!).

They're the devil's handiwork. Terrible low level RF interference from them.

I have no choice. Anyway, no radio hams nearby, I live in the country

Just activated Telnet on my Win 7 Netbook and got connected to HDR.

All new to me, but dead easy.

Cup of coffee, then try Patch. Don't wait up!

Patch installed ok (Confirmed by using Telnet to check)

It does indeed strip the Encryption Flag and appears to Stream ok, but then the Video freezes although Sound is fine.

But then again, it only mentions Twonky and Media Tomb in the Thread linked earlier, so maybe I need to play further in due course.

I've never used telnet, so that's all a mystery to me. I assume I open a terminal start telnet, then what? Type in the ip address of the HDR? Or it's name? Anyway, I'm in no hurry at the moment. I'll see how you get on.

You need to set up your PC as Telnet Client (Add/Remove Windows Features)

Then Run Telnet, type o (For Open!) and the address of your HDR: It will then reply with "Foxsat HDR ##"

Then use Telnet Commands like opkg list-installed (To see what you've got) or search Interweb for other simple commands.

Never done it before.

Doddle.

Have now also set up Samba so I can see the HDR via Windows >> Network and access any and all Files that way.

Enjoying myself.

Anything else you ever need to do, somebody will have specified exact syntax somewhere on some Forum.

Had a great day playing with this, so going to quit while I'm ahead and go do something completely different.

To try and overcome the HD streaming issue, I thought I'd simply Copy a .ts file across via Samba Shares, using the standard Windows Copy function >>>> This works at the astonishing rate of 2.25MB/sso takes half an hour to Copy a one hour prog.

So, I've added the tinyftp server to the HDR and installed Filezilla Client on my PC.

Will report back how that copes.

Got FTP working, but speed is still only 2.4MiB/s

TRy another time. Much achieved, but diminishing returns now.

Just demonstrated Streaming to Netbook to SWMBO and she's v.impressed.

Must be good, then!

Sound quality through cheap earphones is pretty darned good and I've just been to the spares box and found a suitable cable to connect to a spare input on the Bedroom HiFi: Those WInter nights will just fly by ...............

WiFi copes perfectly with SD, but not HD (Even though I've stripped the Encryption Flag as stated earlier) : The problem is speed. Ergo, when I've got some pennies, I might try Homeplugs.

I'm glad to hear you got it streaming. Put in the patch myself and streamed Jools Holland from BBC HD on Friday night, occasionally a bit jittery, but very good on the whole. I use Devolo and EA homeplugs.

Somewhat amusingly, since about half an hour ago, Sky News is now Officially on the Freesat EPG at 202.

So, just the Red Button Stream added using Raydon now!

Sagi Parabol dish, Humax Freesat box

Hi everyone.

VERY new to all this - just managed to re-setup my dish with a satellite finder and some help from this forum. Got reading this thread as I have a Humax Foxsat-HDR box - sounds interesting but as someone new and wishing to learn is there a 'guide' to all this somewhere that takes me through installing the Raydon softeware and info on what other patches and software is needed? Where can I get all the software and how to I install it etc. Sorry for simple questions but we all learn somewhere by asking :)

Found the following blog: myhumax.org/blog/?page_id=166

Is this the right place to get the files and if so which files do I need? Cant see the patch that qpeople are taking about.

Thanks

JP

I think there are instructions in the ZIP file that Tivu uploaded in the first post. If not, I created an installation document from posts elsewhere on the Internet which I hope I've still got at home - I'll have a look this evening when I get back.

Just be aware that you have to have a loader version of U7,53 or later for this to work. This number flashes up on the screen right at the beginning when you turn it on. I have so far signally failed to upgrade my HDR which is sttuck on U7.52
