Yes, this is a problem I reported to Humax a long time ago, of course they have done nothing about it. Actually there are 2 faults, firstly it puts out PC levels (black = 0, white = 255 referred to an 8-bit signal) instead of TV levels (black = 16, white = 235). Hence the brightness is too low and the contrast too high. This is one reason why I feed it through my DVDO scaler, which has tweaks to take this error out.

Funnily enough I only noticed this problem when I upgraded from v7 to v11, it's a shame because the HD transmissions are really spoilt by this fault on my Pioneer PDP-434, had to go into the main Panel menu to alter the contrast, brightness etc, this is something Humax really needs to fix, and quick, after all, it is supposed to be a receiver designed to output quality HDMI signals

Successive firmware versions make changes to the satellite database (new sats added, renamed etc.) so there may be some compatibility issues.

Best to upload the list you have for the version it was made for. By all means try it with the 0.15 version and see if it see if it's OK, haven't tried this myself though.

I've decided to downgrade not to version .04, but to version .07 instead.

The reasons for that were:

a) I suppose the major changes were from .04 to .07

 Based on Bob Warriner thread, the "dark" problem wasn't very present in .07 version

Before the downgrade from .15 to .07, I loaded your channel list from 18 December, and I deleted all the channels from the satellites I don't receive (I don't know how to do it with Formula, so I've done it in the receiver).

Finnaly, I've done the downgrade from .15 to .07

So far, it's all ok with your channel list after the downgrade.

The image doesn't look so dark as before, but the quality seems to be poorer (maybe it's only a psychological problem from me).

Thank you for your help

Thanks for your info Ervil, I was reluctant to downgrade with that list - seems it's working OK for you, might give it a try.

I have another problem reported with firmware 15. Sometimes when the unit is switched on it simply loads the boot-up 1-99 then cuts out. Resetting it about 3-4 times it finally runs ok and starts up. Could this be a result of the new firmware? I never had the problem with the original firmware.
Where did version 15 come from. On the website version 7 is still the latest. _http://www.humaxdigital.com/hcsa/download/products/HDCI-2000.asp
What firmware is the most stable?

Thanks

The official firmware .15 was available OTA last month, and during the time it was being transmitted, a message appeared that it was available to download (if you were on the Hotbird satellite over which the data was being sent.)

Try reuploading the firmware manually, may have been corrupted.

There's an updated channel list (motorised version) for the Humax HD over at Laural's.

Here's a fixed dish version (DiseqC1.0) I created with Laural's OK (Llew=Magwitch :) ) -

Edit - now with ITV HD

What DiseqC setup have you got, fixed or motorised? uploading the wrong list into the box gives that message.

Did you unplug the box as soon as the download to box message clears off the screen? - that was only introduced as a joke I think - you have to wait until the BOX screen says standby or your start up channel name which shows it's finished loading the new channel list

Hi there. First post!

I am going to get the Humax HDCI-200 soon and was wondering how you edit the channels. Can you do it on your PC first with some program (if so, where do you get it from) or can it just be done on the STB itself?

Also, is Channel 4 HD available through this box, or is it only on Sky FTV?

Thanks for your help!

Do yourself a favour m8 and buy a different box, the Humax is overrated and has too many limitations.

As far as I'm aware, the Humax HDCI-2000 is the ONLY box to be getting ITVHD perfectly both sound and vision, some other boxes are having problems resolving the issues with ITVHD, also the upscaling capabilities are excellent on this receiver. :)

Works very well with the T-Rex 4.6 cam, the Humax channel editor could be better, but does the job OK.

If you can get one at around £100.00 grab it, you won't have any regrets.

The downloads are at _http://www.humaxdigital.com/hcsa/Download/Products/HDCI-2000.asp for the formula channel editor and the firmware update if you don't use hotbird OTA update. I find the box excellent and flexible enough for my needs I use a Diablo and a Trex 4.6 depending on which emulation I'm after but one is usually enough. Some prefer the boxes with built in emulators but I'd rather replace a cam than a box! Plenty of fully completed channel lists available as well as support on forums. If you want to look at the channel list mine is at http://www.satellites.co.uk/satellite/freesat/124971-itv-hd-humax-hdci-2000-a.html with ITV HD working and you can experiment based on the same sats you use assuming it's not motorised. Remember though you will need a null modem lead for connection with a pc (cheap!)

Plenty of other boxes are now working with ITV HD, the technomate and the topfield, both better boxes than the Humax, just two that come to mind.
T-Rex Cam's work with 99% of boxes so why that's a reason to buy a HDCI-2000 I don't know, plus picture quality via HDMI is crap on the Humax (too dark, a known problem) and stunning on the other boxes.
You will have regrets if you buy this box!

I'm sorry but I don't agree that the picture quality is crap via hdmi, although there have have been plenty of posts stating this. I have a 42" Panasonic plasma and picture quality through hdmi has been stunning viewing BBC HD, Discovery HD, Prem**** HD, Luxe TV HD and the HD Astra feeds.
