Agree about the SD channels, however here in France, we have a basic Freesat box without a hard drive and don't use a VPN so can't access catch up. The plus 1 channels get a fair amount of use, as SWMBO often sits up till midnight for the end of Lewis even if she does fall asleep.....ITV 3 +2 anyone?
Ah yes ok useful for you then but can you not use a vpn and itv hub with a firestick ?

HD certainly helps with older shows and the sport / films on ITV4. But all the SD channels should be removed along with the utterly pointless +1 channels in this age of 24/7 catch up

You forget there are some of us with uttery ropey internet connectivity! Plus every time the on demand valve on the hot water tank kicks in about 1815 the router resets! We must get 2 or 3 drop outs a night here.

The only firestick we have goes on the logburner......I've tried VPN's before and concluded that it's not worth the subscription for the amount of time we'd use catch up. When not watching ITV3 or the news, SWMBO is addicted to Netflix....

Be thankful hot water is still vaguely affordable!

Is anything free on Virgin now? When I lived in a cable-only area I was able to watch a handful of channels but circa 2017 I think all but the main 4 became encrypted.

Trying to watch the England rugby on Amazon over 4G and it's a dog's dinner of judder and audio drop outs. Speed is not the issue, I have and excess of 10 to 15Mbits on speed tests running at the same time. Some will say it's caused by jitter and nothing can be done about it but that's nonsense as Youtube always works perfectly smoothly. I've seen similar (usually less severe) issues with BBC & Eurosport.
