Bet it was a trip of a lifetime for you, and yes hopefully uefa will have to allow Liverpool defend their title. What agood suggestion above in this thread about Arsenal Giving Liverpool the auto spot and they go into the playoffs. I think Arsenal would be good enough to overcome any of the pre qualifers.

Well, one would think Liverpool as well. I don't think it is down to playing a qualifier, as it stands they can't get a place unless Everton are demoted to the UEFA cup, which I don't think the FA will do...

True enough, Did I hear that milan was allowed to go through some years ago when the finished outside the qualifing positions.??

Yes, but I believe that it was at the expense of another Italian team and i can imagine the carnage on Merseyside if that decision were made.

The FA could always drop Man U from the Champions League. I mean, what other teams will turn out players looking like this.....

UEFA ....... once and for all change your utterly stupid senseless rule ........ from now on and forever the Champions of Europe whoever they may be should gain automatic entry to next years competition ....... it currently is a total farce ......

....... for now im going to look out for the 5 DVD box set of all the 'Pool triumphs ...... and now that they are really back i hope Benitez doesnt let them drift back into mediocrity like teams of the past ........ :)

I heard on the news that the welsh amateur champions have offered to let LFC play them for the playoff place, sounds a good compromise, not ideal, but UEFA seem to be pretty much entrenched at the moment.

Yes, I read that and it seems the perfect solution. Big bucks and a day to remember for the minnows, and a route back for the 'pool.

It's about time that UEFA realised that they are there to protect and promote the best interests of football for the people, not just to get off on the rule-book-power-trip.

Does that mean that I've qualified to take over from David James in goal as even tonight in the friendly he made so many mistakes, could I really be any worse than him? , he'd be better off sticking to basketball although I did have a giggle at his debut as a centre forward he even looked clumsy doing that.

Trouble is that £50m can buy Liverpool some good players, must be very tempting for them.
