Yes have to take my Chelsea cap off to you. Well done BUT a big pity you wont be able to defend it. Great for English Priemiership. Well done to the keeper as well. Wonder will Gerrard stay now?????

We are going to defend it... !

Yes, but at the cost of any chance of winning the Premiership. Liverpool will suffer physically in the same way that clubs entering the Intertoto Cup do.

UEFA are so bloody unbelievable! You have to start from the 1st round qualifying, so you'll have to travel to the ends of the Earth in mid July. Liverpool are champions of Europe, so how can they be the LOWEST ranked English team? I know Fenerbache would have conplained for losing their automatic place to Liverpool, but they would have had to play in the 3rd round qualifying had the rules been as they should anyway. And did Fenerbache win the Champions League - No.

Then if you make it through, you have to share the money with the other English teams ==> EXCUSE ME, but since Liverpool are EUROPEAN champions, thus they defeated all of Europe, surely UEFA should share the debt across the 32 teams in the first round who ALL failed to prevent them from winning? Instead, the other four will suffer financially for having DEFEATED Liverpool in the Premiership??? On this note, surely the four clubs; Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal, Everton, should seek legal action for loss of revenue/defaulting on contract etc?

And also, eventually the England World Cup team will suffer because Gerrard and Carragher will be knackered by the end of the season, whether they have a month to recover or overwise.

Mate you've gotta be happy with what we've been given today. With the FA giving fourth place to the blue n' white sh*te, that was the best we could have hoped for really. The tiredness factor is a worry, but hopefully given a good qualifying draw we could rest a few of our top players (not being over confident or anything!), particularly Gerrard and Carragher - being both World Cup bound and probably our two best players; although then that would raise speculation as to Gerrard's future (e.g. Owen not playing in last years qualifiers).

All in all I'm pretty chuffed with that decision. Besides I really can't see us winning the Premiership, qualifiers or not. But we're in with a good chance of challenging for the Champions League crown again. That's the weird thing - best team in Europe but only fifth best in the Premiership! I think the aim in the Premiership this season is to beat Man U to third (though that'll be extremely tough: Glazer or no Glazer), then gradually build on that over the following couple of seasons. Or transfer to the Primera Liga or Serie A - we'd win them hands down!

he he, I thought u may mistake me, I'm a Man U fan!!!

Sorry, I just have a particular dislike of UEFA when they arent logical (that'll be must of the time then!).

At the end of the day, your Champions of Europe, so surely you should get an automatic place, even if it means Arsenal are dropped into qualifiers, or Man U and/or Everton have to play from 2nd round. I think it leaves a stain on your magic night in Istanbul. Man U didnt have this concern, so why should Liverpool?
