The cheap meter, pointed out by, ozumo, will do the job.

The advantage of connecting these cheap meters, to your receiver, and LNB, is that it lights up, if everything is working, and they are so simple, to use. Once it lights up you adjust the knob, to the left, increasing the sensitivity, until you have it about midway, 5, on the scale, you then gently adjust the dish, left/right, until it reaches 10, then adjust the knob, to the right, decreasing the sensitivity, until it reaches 5 again, then gently move your dish, until it reads 10, and continue doing this until you have the strongest signal. You can then do the same with elevation, gently moving it up/down, using the meter, until you have the strongest signal.

You will not know which satellite your on, until you scan in some channels, the you can either use sites like lyngsat, or post the channel names, and frequencies, polarity. Symbol rate, on the forum, and someone will assist you.

OK, maybe for finetuning to 28E signal in the UK. I have to admit that, I guess. :) for you (:( for me).

Here in Holland we do mostly multifeed dishes. The precision job of finetuning a triple LNB (19-23-28E) on a Triax 78, I could never have done with a sat-beeper, though.

To add:
It is not unusual, that a satellite frequency has very hindering interference with the same frequency of a neighbouring satellite. To get better reception on that frequency, you need to aim the dish a bit away from the target satellite, in the opposite direction of the hindering neighbour satellite. I've seen several examples of that, in the forums.

So the optimal aiming strategy for that satellite would not be to where the maximum sum-signal is, according to the sat beeper; but to where you get maximum signal quality on the most problematic frequencies.

So, it might be for fine-tuning on 28E from a location in the UK, that a sat-beeper gives optimal or at least very satisfactory results.

But it will be clear by now, that I want a different level indicator/measuring device while finetuning my dishes.
(Once I had one program on 13E which, despite not too bad SR and FEC values, gave really problematic reception. Don't know why. So I had to finetune on that program frequency, to get 'optimal' reception on that satellite.)

There are a lot of signal meter applications for Android x86 installed on laptop 11".

Yes, but it takes about 5 seconds before changing the value.

These are my current signal strenghts on my enigma2 box. How far off do you guys think it is out by and how much can these signal strenghts be improved by?
Can i be done with the above cheap signal finder? Or will i have to get sky engineer or someone?

Bbc 1 SNR 100% AGC 82%. ITV SNR 79% AGC 86%. Euronews SNR 83% AGC 91%. Sky news SNR 71% AGC 86%.

Thanks

Can your E2 box display dB figures instead of percentages?

I find 11265 V 27500 (WION HD) is usually the weakest transponder.

BBC One HD - need to know which transponder
ITV HD - ditto
11464H Euronews - 13.8dB
12070H Sky News - 14.8dB (my meter maxes out at 14.8dB for DVB-S transponders)
11265V Wion HD - 11.6dB
Utsav plus - can't find a channel with that name?

These are with a zone 2 dish in the North East.

Looking at Euro news and sky news, looks like my dish does need a lil tweek to strengthen the db.
Ill update the transponder later this evening
Thanks

I think your dish is a zone 1? So a zone 2 will give more signal. However I'd have thought your ITV HD would be a similar level the the BBC One HD. It would be helpful to know which transponders you used for these channels.

It may be that your high band (11700MHz and up) is struggling. All BBC One channels are low band, ITV is spread across both.

The biggest difference is in the high band transponders, I think your LNB may be past its best.

No, its a new inverto black ultra quad i just bought. I think its a combination of dish alignment and wrong skew setting on lnb.
I will buy the satellite finder from ebay and see if i can improve any of the settings but them im think of changing the dish to zone 2 sky oval dish or a 60cm round solid dish. Which will be better?
