is it "var/volatile/tmp" ?
Yeah, or there is a symlink in the root directory.

i have a sky ' package ' which is shite.... got it when the kids were real kids and watched the usual stuff. i kept s*y+ because of phone and tv but recently the box packed up and i thought i would save some money and cancel sky. thing is i need a bit of flexibility in the future so.... i believe this is the way forward. who knows, maybe i should've stuck with murdoch ;)

Well if you haven't got movies or sport the only thing you need to configure a boxkey for is when they do "free" weekends to get people interested in premium channels.

Not having a dig here mate but if you had downloaded the VU centre frontend program i showed you, I doubt you would have been installing different programs to just stick an ipk file in.

That frontend was designed for beginners like yourself and has every program you need at the click of a mouse, But never mind if DCC and a foreign language is your thing then so be it.

I got the VU centre frontend, but after I'd downloaded the dcc app, VU centre launched with errors, and id already fumbled through dcc while downloading vu cc ( which i got from your post, and i must thankyou for ) so I continued under the advice from H, I'd rather use something easy so am looking forward to an English working application. Tonight I'm happy to have got the cccam going as I thought it to be alchemy.. Not that you were having a dig, just trying like buggery to remember file transfer protocol, it's been years since I had time to fiddle with such things

Tonight's quest will be connecting a HDD. . . .
:)
I tried to use an 8gb thumb drive to see how the time shift and recording function worked but to no avail

It has to be formatted to FAT 32 and you have to set a location for the time shift/recording I think. No doubt someone will confirm that before tonight. There are certain makes of pen drive that don't work too well in a VU+ IIRC

I managed to initialise the pen drive but all it achieved was wiping its content, after that the box kept crashing. Gave up in the end. Also, as a side problem, I can't view 4HD, black screen and error message ?

I'm afraid the pen drive crashing the box is beyond my ken, as I never time shift or record. What's the error message on 4HD?...sid not found in pat perchance??

Did you pre load a channel list via dreambox edit at all if you did it could be an old list with an outdated transponder info details, If you did not pre load a list then a manual scan on 28.2° should sort it.

Cheers digi. I did download a list but had to do a scan as I recall. I'll redo it tonight.

Do a manual scan of that satellite and select "clear before scan" equals "yes". Otherwise the old channel won't get deleted.
Menu -> Setup -> Service Searching -> Manual Scan -> Single satellite
