I normaly only see three types of butterfly in our garden.cabbage white,peacocks,and a brown one that I do not know the name of.
Yesterday we had another unkown brown one.

Last week I was at home watching a thunder storm pass overhead when I saw a bolt of lightning hit a tree just a few hundred meters from me. A bit close for comfort. Unfortunately I didn't get the strike on video but I went to look at the aftermath. The thunder was some of the loudest I'd heard and rattled windows and tripped some people's circuit breakers but luckily all my equipment is fine.

Just shows the awesome power of lightning as the tree has exploded with 3 foot "splinters" of the tree spread over 20m away as it vaporised the moisture in the trunk. And just to show you never know where lighting will strike, close by are a couple of large metal cranes and on the other side my building which is over 80m high... but for some reason it decided to hit a fir tree in a forest instead.

Yeah, I enjoy thunderstorms when I'm viewing them from a distance, and I get some good views from being at the top a high building but when it's passing overhead and zapping things in my neighbourhood - not so much. ;) When you see the lighting flash in front of you it's a little scary. I'm certainly not planning on sheltering under any trees in the storm after seeing the sharp bits of wood scattered around the forest (not that I would have anyway but it does highlight the dangers).
