C H shield bug as Skomedal says but what sort? I'd go for Parent Bug Elasmucha grisea found in most of the British Isles. Feed mostly on the fruits and leaves of plants. (check your raspberries!)Any idea what this bug is ?
Is it using the baby wipes to clean itself
I was admiring that moon while cycling home.As it's a 'Harvest Moon'...and it came up an unearthly orange colour just after dusk, here's a few shots I managed to get.. (hand held on a Fuji bridge camera)

Thanks, yes the few adders I've seen in the past have been lighter and browner in colour. This one was quite small and black so when curled up on the path it looked like a dog turd until I got closer and it started hissing...Nice pictures pal, yes I think its an adder, I have only seen a few,

I'd go for Great Mullein Verbascum thapsus. Distinguished by velvety leaves even in their first year when they appear as rosettes without flowering spikes. They are flammable when dry and have been used for lamp wicks. Range throughout europe.Hi everyone,
Need some help to identify this plant found today:-
Light sandy soil
200 meters above sea level
The only one that I can see in the area
Mostly pine and spruce ( some silver birch and rowan )
Plant is 44cm tall with hairy leaves
Please feel free to inquire for more details

Adder it is Vipera berus. Don't worry about the colour as they range from redish brown through to all black.Went for a walk today to enjoy the unusually warm weather we've been having at this time of year for Finland and saw an upset snake (adder?) hissing away in the middle of the forest path and some weird fungus growing off a fir tree.
