Champion, Nelson. One of these days I'll bump into you somewhere in the Lakes.

It truly was an amazing week weather-wise and the conditions underfoot were very dry. The watercourses were very tame and it's hard to reconcile with the floods of a few weeks ago.

And the Ice Cream at Sikes Farm in Buttermere provided a worthy reward after our Grasmoor round!

SWMBO and I went to one of our favourite haunts today, the Bempton Cliffs Nature Reserve, under the Stewardship of the RSPB (Not Chris Packham, thankfully).

It was unbelievably busy, even though we approached it via a lengthy clifftop walk from Thornwick Bay, rather than from the actual RSPB Centre.

Anyway, we saw everything we expected to, apart from Shag (No innuendo, thanks )

The Puffins were notable for their absence for the first couple of hours, but we were fortunate then to see a few singletons and a group of four.

First batch of pics follows - and please excuse the sideways ones: Not got used to the Windows 10 Photo Editor yet.

I whole heartedly agree with you comments, after all, smoking after a such a strenuous walk would be extremely bad for the chest!
( was that the same photo at the bottom of both posts? )

No. Play "Spot the difference"

They are similar and after weeding the originals for a second time I intended to exclude the very last one.

But I'm tired and forgot, so am now on strike.

Besides, you can never have too many Gannets.

I bet that last Gannet is about to cry his eyes out about being excluded! He only ever wanted to be one of the flock!

The bedouin who lived next door to me in the 70's once caught killed cooked and offered to share his hare with me, it was a bit tough and surprisingly not a lot like rabbit texture wise, in fact it was tough as shoe leather

A long time since I've eaten Hare, but IIRC it is to Rabbit as Turkey is to Chicken.

Loads of them round here.

Hadn't heard of Blacktoft before, but see it's by the Ouse east of Goole.

It's an amazing reserve, 6 large hides looking over several different type of terrain, proper toilets, good car parking, binocular hire, a must visit.:)

I have this cactus for some time, but, as far as I remember, it has never had so many flowers at once (10 this time). They open very fast and do not stay nice long, maybe day or two.
