Our recent trip to Fragneta Labata, one of many small villages in the Benevento region of Italy, that are quickly falling into dereliction only to be snapped up by speculative Londoners with Italian roots that have discovered they can modernise or rebuild half a dozen properties with land and fruit/olive/fig trees or vines in these run down villages, all for the price of a semi-detached in wider London. It was quite surreal, listening to a builder from Croyden, a hairdresser from Northampton and a property owner from Guildford. all of whom have returned to their roots. The views are stunning and the way of life is simple, but it has become an attractive way of life to many who are burnt out by the hamster wheel of life.
The first capture is sunrise on our first morning in Italy taken from our bedroom window. The others are further views of countryside and typical villages in that region, many of which have marbled roads. In two days time they are required by law to have studded snow tyres, I cannot imagine what it is like driving with those on marbled streets, last one is a view of the alps on the flight back
