^^^ Thanks. The thing with butterflies is to come close enough without scaring them ...and getting the focus right !

Am only using a 60mm (macro) non-stabilized, so need speed + light + higher iso, at the detriment of depth of field and have to tolerate some picture noise. If closeup photo'ing gets any serious (+ finding some money in the street), this is the thing > Objectif reflex Canon EF 100 mm f/2.8 L Macro IS USM sur Fnac.com

Some photos from my Flamborough/Bempton Cliffs trip.

Got to see Puffins, so small compared to the other birds on the cliff, but don't seem to be too bothered.:) Also showing Kittiwakes, Gannets, Guillemots and Razorbills.

Not the best of 500mm lenses, but good enough, it's the Sigma 50-500, quite old now, but does a reasonable job.:)

Very true, Sigma do a 150-600mm now, looks really good, problem is my kit is Olympus four thirds and no new model lenses available for it, so unless I move manufacturer, I'm stuck with what I have.

From the garden, a lizard beauty, but ran away fast and no chance (yet) of getting a better shot.

And the bird, anyone knows what it is ? Size like a large magpie, special blue on the sides.

Recently got back from three weeks in Murcia and have weeded over 500 pics down to a selection of Nature jobbies. There are still rather a lot, as our finds were bountiful.

So please bear with as I Post them in batches.

First of all, two lots of five Birds.
