We get geese crossing here in the autumn as they make their way south. It's a wonderful sight and they often roost nearby and so they are low in the sky as well.

Speaking about gees...there is picture I made about 1/2 year ago when they were flying north and landed on the field not far from my place. IMG_20170420_080006 (Custom).jpg Now they started to fly south, I 'ave also seen several hooks.
And this picture is taken in my front-yard when those rascals visited..... they collected all the berries we we had on bushes.... no one left. I am not angry, as I do not have to spend time collecting berries :-applause IMG_20170814_073349 (Custom).jpg Thanks blackbirds!

We disturbed this little chap when we were cutting the grass. This was about a month ago but I only got around to downloading the pics a couple of days ago.

You'd never know from photographs but they can move quite fast.
Saw one once at my Sister's place near Chartres, was a particularly warm summer, have never seen one since there though.

Wow, that's fierce.

Not really others have it worse

"""" Many people have had to leave their homes because of landslides and flood in Southern Norway. The Road Administration has lost the track of the number of closed roads.

Several places in southern Norway report serious incidents associated with the storm and heavy rain. In Lyngdal, around 20 people were evacuated after a river flooded on Monday.

Agder police published a warning on Monday to drivers about very difficult driving conditions in the region.

A number of roads in the Agder counties are closed due to floods. There have also been several serious damages related to the storm in recent hours. ""

A load of honking passed over our house yesterday and I dashed out to take a photograph. I was a bit late but managed to catch this small flock.

Round two of possible floods just forecast for this area, from yr weather service.

Expected heavy precipitation from Friday to Sunday. Largest amount of precipitation Friday and Sunday and most in the coastal areas. Friday locally 30-60 mm, in outer parts of Aust-Agder and Telemark possibly 50-80 mm. Some less Saturday. Sunday locally 30-60 mm, amount Sunday is extremely uncertain.

Timeline

  1. Friday October 20, 2017 0:08:00
    Increasing danger
  2. Monday October 23, 2017 0:12:00
    Danger is over

Consider the need for preventive measures. Emergency Operators should consider ongoing need for preparedness
. """"

I had a day trip to Northern part of Israel yesterday.
Few photos of the area.
The last photo is a tower used to look out for any fires in the area. One match can set fire for miles because we haven't had much rain over the past few years.

Having had to remove my bird feeder earlier in the year as next door had gained a nest of rats under their shed, some of whom were feeding from the grain dumped on the ground by the smaller birds I decided last weekend to put my feeder back and was overjoyed that the first birds to find the feeder were marsh tits, bluetits, and a goldfinch. I also have a pair of dunnocks feeding but have so far been unsuccesful in capturing a photo of them as they tend to ground feed more. Sad to say my wren is not around although I did see one doing a land survey from my garage roof this afternoon, so is perhaps intertested in returning. The sparrows soon got the message as well unfortunatelyP1260960.jpg P1260956.jpg P1260967.jpg

Had a visit to Lancaster Castle and Williamson Park where this little fellow was happily soaking up the heat in the humid butterfly house
