What is pip? In general, if something crashes, I cannot do much about it if you don't provide a log file.

Unrelated, but I just found a small but important bug which can lead to no services found.
So it is best to do a "git pull" and a recompile.

2. Of all the cards I tried with neumodvb, tbs 6983 works the worst at spectrum and blindscan, although it is the best performing DVB-s2 card from tbs. And I don't understand why the 5927 USB tuner looks better at spectrum and blindscan, when we know that both devices have the same demod stv-910x based?
And I don't think I made a mistake in the configuration because I know from memory the application instructions. And besides, I've been testing all my cards for a few days now.
I did tests with both devices at 19.2E because we have a strong signal and many transponders. If with 5927 only one transponder, I didn't lock -10773 H, and the spectrum looks good; with 6983, as you can see in the picture, the application found only a few transponders, but these I couldn't lock even manually, and the spectrum is almost empty. With 6983 I had the same result with blindscan and spectrum on all the satellites I scanned.
The above tests are with the latest neumodvb version.

You could report what the crash message said. I justed tested on another computer and no problems occur for me.

I have problems starting neumodvb.py with version 0.8 on each of the distros I use with neumodvb, Mint 20.2 and Fedora 34. Both are OK with version 0.7.
The log for the working version 0.7 shows neumodvb.py. The non-working log stops before an appearance of neumodvb.py.

Compiling neumodvb in either of the distros results in errors. This is after a git pull that includes the last file uploaded yesterday to Github. I have no idea what the errors mean. Any clue deeptho?

Ok, I found the problem: one line was accidentally not check into github.
It should be fixed now.

Compiles OK now, but executing neumodvb.py it still closes, albeit with a flash of the gui screen.

neumu.log shows neumodvb.py apparently making an effort, but log closes on line 75.

There are no errors in there. Only messages that indicate correct behaviour. So what error is listed on the command line?
I just recompiled from scratch and it just works...

apt-updated packages. Downloaded neumodvb version 0.8 again, and recompiled. All OK.

A neumodvb.py to the CLI gives me the same output I had before starting again, namely -



What now please? I'm beginning to think this version has taken a dislike to my Mint 20.2 kernel5.9.0-rc7-tbs+

Odd since version 0.7 works perfectly in the same kernel

I tried and partly succeeded with the 6983 card to manually scan and save transponders and Amateur Radio services from the sub-band at Es'hailsat promo at 25.5E, even though I failed to get spectrum. Also, the card locked, and the symbol rate of 333, but the signal didn't last long.
If the driver for this card was optimized, I'm sure the results, especially with a low symbol rate, would be better.
What is the lnb setting for 10490-10500 MHz in your app? I used Inverto Black Ultra.
Same transponders with Crazyscan under Windows.

Perhaps they use a different tuner which cannt achieve a narrow bandwidth>
Or perhaps the tuner is not configured as narrow-band as it can be because tbs 6983 is NOT SUPPORTED (yet) and
this requires some extra code to be written (not much). It is difficult to fix without having such a card for testing.

No, there is not much to configure that can affect this.

Same with my Fedora 34 kernel 5.13.19.200. Downloaded a new version 0.8 after removing non-working original. Recompile OK. Still the problem with neumodvb.py.

Ok, I see. It should not crash, but there can be bugs. If you are feeling adventurous then follow the instructions I
posted for Llew on running gdb. What could also help is the /tmp/neumo.log file. For Llew it did not contain anything useful,
but eveyr problem is different.

This is strange. It looks like your build is not ok or perhaps there is

I suspect the file does not exist or was not properly built

Ignore top lines, my neumodvbs are in Downloads,

So - first find is in my not working version 0.8, and second find is working version 0.7.

Both seem to yield the same result (?)




To confirm, a check of /build/src/neumodb/statdb shows libstadb.so files in both neumodvb versions.

Try building it cleanly in the standard location (~/neumodvb) from scratch and then send me the build log files.
I don;t have a good idea what may be the problem, but it is quite likely related to something specific on your computer
