Oh I see so it's not a full band ka LNB then ?

Nah, unfortunately not, do a search for a multi band Ka lnb and make sure your sat down when you see the price :D

If lnb at focus, installed accurately, skew etc and assuming your dish is not warped, you will receive some of the stronger transponders on your 1mtr from 16 / 7/ 5° East ...... unfortunately they are not all the same strength (up here in North Notts anyway)
I'll take a screen grab of the three different sat positions for Ka signal levels from the 1.2 Gibby / Inverto Ka-Ku combo to illustrate my point.
ITN Ka feeds on 24°West ..... thats a new one on me, they are usually on 19.2°East on band-A 18.2 to 19.2GHz usually between 18500V to 18650 V area.

As promised .... & also showing another downside to Ka reception

Thanks, what are you using for these screenshots ? To ask again the inverto does not receive the full ka band if it can't receive the ITN feeds ?

A Promax HD Ranger+ is being used to capture the output of the Inverto Ka/Ku lnbf from the different Ka satellites via the "loop out" F-socket of a TM-5402 HD M3 receiver.

A very similar frequency scan screen can also be obtained from the excellent VMA spectrum software in conjunction with a SMA hardware unit, details of which can be found on a separate thread on the forum.

The Ka side of the Inverto lnbf is Ka band D only --- frequencies 21.2 GHz to 22.2GHz only.
The ITN feeds from 19.2° E use an lnb that's made for Ka Band A --- 18.2 GHz to 19.2 GHz.

Oh right, this makes me loose interest somewhat as I thought this LNB would be suitable for all Ka bands

OMG that's one expensive signal meter you have btw !

Ka band is split into 4 bands and no one lnb will cover all bands.

Plus some ka is in left and right circular and some in horizontal and vertical.

It would have been if i had paid the full price for a brand new one ... mine was used but was only used about 10 times and looked brand new and was about the third of the price of a new one ...Also, part of my trade activities required one, so again it was tax deductable etc etc.
There is another way of obtaining ITN feeds which is what a few of us did in the earlier days of Ka band reception and that was to follow the instructions and guidance from Vipersan & Llew in some dedicated threads started on the forum ---- "Newsnet on Ka Band A" & "The DirectTV SL3-K4NR1-03".

This Ka/Ku combi...
Wonder what the feedhorn is optimised for? Upper Ku? Lower Ka?
Anyone know or care to guess?

Good question, but the team who designed it did a pretty good job to shoe horn Ka H/V plus Ku&Ku H/V with a really good performance on the dedicated Ka port and at a not too expensive price.
A simple screen grab below of Ka dedicated port with lnbf pointing up into the night sky showing band flatness across the whole band.

Bands A and B the SL3 covers. You need the BBC converter to get band A. That is not required for band B.

we meant using the the ka/ku combo lnb with the direct tv BBC inline, what band would it kick out.

Ahh, I had a few glasses by the time I read the thread. Not sure if I tried that, certainly don't remember it working. The SL3 thread started by Vipersan has all the info, on the BBC, but it might only shift the band from C to B if using the Inverto LNB. Llew and Vipersan might also have tried it.
Those two guys in inspired me to dabble in Ka in the first place.

Hello everyone, forum and KA band newbie :)

A bit late to the party but I've just got this LNB to use with my CM1.2 and Solo 4k Enigma2 rx, well actually I'm just waiting for the new Octagon SF4008 to arrive which by all accounts has very sensitive tuners and is also DVB-S2X and multistream capable.

In the meantime I thought I'd have a look at KA with the solo 4k but I'm not sure about the LOF, I'm assuming the LOF low and LOF high should be the same but what about the threshold setting ?

The user defined setting offers the parameters as in screenshot, could someone please look at the screenshot and advise.

EDIT: using the dedicated KA port.

TIA
