So you are saying that instead of loading Blackhole, you've rather fallen into one?

Some lateral thinking now required - either that, or a Manchester Screwdriver.

On the Duo the upgrade happens automatically. If it doesn't work the USB stick is not compatible. I've got several that won't flash the Duo. If you go on the Vix forum there is a sticky that lists the known compatible USB sticks for flashing.

Ah ------- wanders over to Vix to have a looky. Im trying a DataTraveller as its all I could find...

I use a Kingston Data traveller on mine and have no issues.

Download this file from the location underneath.

_http://vuplus-community.net/board/attachments/blackhole-1-6-4-bm750_usb-zip.3811/

Just format the stick and then just copy over the unzipped folder over. Stick it in the front USB and switch the receiver on (Hard reset from power switch)

Hopefully it should reboot. I'm guessing what ever you have done to the image in the box, the reflash isn't resetting it.

If you use BH it will overwrite all the VIX files completely and will hopefully allow the box to boot.

I also recommend registering here also if you use black hole.

Did you put the hard drive in it in the end? And did you flash it with BH or VIX?

No hhd yet. That can come later :D

Also need to sort the networking out.

Vix atm. I was more interested in making sure I hadnt done any terminal damage than the actual image in use.

Well done AS! My Solo has been very stable since (like Huevos) I loaded VIX2. I have tried BH and although it's an excellent image I just liked the look of the VIX more. Down to personal taste I guess.

BTW, I'll give you another week before you manage to break it again.......just before F1 qualifying at Spa in fact!!

Well it scanned - only 400 channels this time, and nothing off 28E. More tinkering required! :D

You need to update the satellites.xml file. I know theres a plugin for it on BH, don't know about VIX.

You also need to tell it to do a network scan when scanning :D

Gawd - you can see why folks get into a right tangle with Linux boxes if they havent used them before cant you.

Im doing single sat scans now - Ive often found the rx's dont switch correctly between the satellites - probably because of the length of my cable runs.

13E to begin with.

OMG! What you done? :p Looks like I've missed the fun lol!

Personally I'd stick with ViX, but then again I'm biased :)

I would definitely fit a HDD or at least use a USB stick in the rear for epg data.

To setup EPG Menu > Setup > System > EPG. Under settings setup the storage path. Do not use the flash. Under Crossepg > Configure enable scheduled download once a day. Then setup your providers. Try not too choose too many, only choose the ones you really need. Enabling loads could cause the odd green screen. If this happens enable a swapfile on USB stick via Blue button > ViX > Swap manager.

Err Mr Satellite I broke my new toy :(

Fortunately with some help I fixed it :D

Well Ive always lived by the maxim. If you are going to screw summat up you might as well do it properly...... :p

However hopefully this thread will help other folk who do the same.

Old threads suggest to retro fit a drive I need to go back to the original Vu+ image, install the drive then flash back to Vix. Is this still the case?.

Never had that problem with mine :D

I think i had BH 1.4.5 on it when i fitted the HDD. I just put it in, rebooted the box and the box recognised it straight away :toke:

Thats promising. It'll be a major pita if you have to reflash from one to another.

I've had loads of different images on mine and the HDD has never been an issue.

Tried Vix, VTi, Blackhole, SIF, HDFreaks, EDG and all of them have seen the HDD :D

Blackhole will initalise a new HDD i think, Vix won't :( So switching image to initalise the HDD is the way to do it, unless you have anything else linux that you can connect the drive to to initalise it. When i upgraded mine I formated it in my linux pc.

On the switches missing commands, I found with mine that you need to set the Diseqc repeats to 2 or 3, and resend on channel change. That sorted mine out.

Getting there slowly - currently watching the Triathlon on ARD 1 HD - not particularly interested in triathlon, but its new channel for me as its DVB-S2 :D

Ive successfully put the Duo onto the network with a fixed IP of 192.168.0.20

Sticking 192.168.0.20 into my browser brings up a nice window :)
