Astra 4A Ka seems quiet for those Zuko Sport feeds too, used to have them most weekends.

I feel for SIS, They lost the Sky News contract the other year as well.

Dont worry about SIS, they have recently rolled out LiveU at every horse race track in Ireland. They have replaced all of their OB fleet that used to cover Irish horse racing with a LiveU man and a backpack, resulting in huge cost savings for them.

Now that SIS have implemented and rolled out LiveU on a large scale they are in a position to reap the cost efficient benefits of LiveU vs an OB satellite uplink van plus transponder leasing costs. This will place SIS favourably in the market when it come to tendering for future contracts.

Not as much as might be imagined. The serious players will still be sitting in their corporate hospitality boxes at the race tracks with their laptops and a huge picture speed advantage

RTE fta for St Patrick s day
Found this on Broad band news..
looks old but nice, btw are we going to get anything from Eire?
Irish TV returns to UK by next St Patrick’s Day

March 17, 2008 12.35 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Ireland’s communications minister Eamon Ryan has confirmed the launch of the so-called Diaspora TV by St Patrick’s Day next year. As the Irish around the world celebrate their patron saint, the minister promised the new channel from public broadcaster RTE would have carriage on free-to-air satellite platform Freesat.

Programming on the publicly-funded channel will be drawn from RTÉ One and RTÉ 2 with additional programming from the Gaelic language TG4. The One, Six-One and 9 o’clock news bulletins will be carried live.

“The 2001 Census in Britain records a figure of 850,000 Irish born people living in Britain. There is many more of direct Irish descent. I know that many of these people have been looking for an RTÉ channel in the UK for some time,” said the minister in a statement.

In fact they will only have been looking since the closure of Tara TV in 2001 following a dispute between RTE and its operators UPC. The commercial venture had been on air since 1997, but had struggled to gain carriage in the then predominantly analogue market.

Diaspora TV never got off the ground - look at the date on the report - its just a few months before the 2008 financial crash.

The chances of Diaspora TV (or something similar ) launching nowadays - low. RTE's finances are still pretty perilous as is made obvious by their recent attempts to get Sky & VM Ireland to pay them carriage fees. Which could end up going spectacularly wrong for them!
