Hi
Is that a polarotor between the feedhorn and the LNB Chris ?if so is that working, quick check is to just pop the feedhorn onto the LNB direct if it will fit(like not circular waveguide to square), or even if the dish has moved

I have stripped the omt, lnb and feedhorn off, checked it was dry, (it was) I will try it set to horizontal tomorrow as the light was against me today.

But it's the feedhorn bolted to the omt, and that is bolted to the lnb.

But nothing on this lnb still :-(

Hi
When I look on the spectrum analyser checking feeds around Newsnet I came across another carrier very low
worked out to be 18.172 Ghz, this is of course out of band, but its there ok, thought it was a harmonic at first but as far as I can tell its not so its a fundamental carrier ok. Any one else seen this? it a bit too low in level to even try to demod, about the same as Penthouse carrier at 18.3xx Ghz

The last time I watched newsnet was Christmas Eve, the feed is one from my 20ghz hughesnet lnb.

Looks like I will have to take it all apart and check. Just as soon as I get a chance.

Check your OMT Chris (where you have the black tape) you may find water has got in. I would turn that the other way around if I were you.

I have made a slight change to the omt, and put the blacking plate over that with an o ring.

I will have a good look at it tomorrow. But still nothing at the moment.

Nothing at all, the PC, Dr HD, and Technomate give no signal what so ever.

Tomorrow I will strip the lnb again, and check the cable it's on. And maybe check it on Horizontal, to see if it's working.

All other lnb's are working with all boxes and PC, just not the hughesnet lnb.

.... before you start stripping down the system Chris, have you got any equipment that can measure the current drawn of the lnb in it's operational state ? ... not a conclusive test but could provide a pointer. I don't possess this particular lnb so cant give you a healthy lnb current draw, perhaps Llew, VS or Chris might be able to furnish that for you.. I do hope it's not died.

Have you got your PLL one up and running John Boy? You know the one that cost nearly as much as the import tax!;)

The Xmw lnb's $500 or so I thought and add on the import charges as well.

All I have is a voltage tester, for the coax feed.

Seems a lot. Is that the Hughes scopus?

He's got a fair old length of coax in use llew and also running through a diseqc switch i do believe so the total load of all components might be bumping up the draw a bit. Correct me if i'm wrong Chris.

Concerning the subject of this latest feed, what happens to the ghost if or when the castle topples? :(:-rofl2

From the Abergeldie castle wiki -

"The castle is reportedly haunted by a ghost known as French Kate or Kitty Rankie. She is said to be a French woman who was employed in the castle at one time. After being suspected of witchcraft she was confined in the castle before being burned at the stake on a nearby hill"

If you mean me, then yeah I have a 10/1 DiSEqC 1.1 Switch, with 2 C-Bands lnb's and a ka/ku Inverto 20ghz and the hughesnet 18ghz.
