A question about signicant differences between my SX88 and the SX88+ receivers in respect of the firmware update procedures as follows:

- both receivers are connected to my router by Cat 5E cables (i.e. I do NOT use WiFi connections), and both can load up and run files from the various streaming sites shown in the menus

- with the SX88+, when Octagon releases a new firmware update, the receiver automatically displays a message to inform me of that as soon as I switch it on and it has booted up. I can then tell it to download and install the update - and that works correctly.

- OTOH, with the earlier SX88, when I switch it on there is no message displayed about available firmware updates and so I only find about those from what you post in this thread. I then have to manually download the update from the Mediafire website link and load it via the USB flashdrive method because if I try to download it directly using the receiver menus , it displays a message that appears to say that it does not know from where any updates can be downloaded and just shows a list of " *** " instead of the URL of the download site files in question!

Therefore please can someone explain why there is this difference, and specifically why the SX88 cannot find the firmware update download site?

Thanks in advance

My old SX88 always tells me there is an available firmware update. Mine is hardwired.. Not used the USB option for years...

So, that implies that "something" is missing from the setup menus, and that would seem to be the URL for the update files - therefore it would be very helpful if you or someone else could post that so that I could try to enter it (with the R/C  ) :)

Try using the ftp tool to get into one receiver and in the other, so see where the difference is. It is possible in txt format, so you can edit.

Old post but I try: how did you manage the fransat together with the sx88+? Completely new on this decoder so I need some help, thanks

Likewise I can't post my config here but I can point you in the right direction. Via ***** through the alternative software patch. This solution does not work with RMC Sport, I'd be interested to know why you would need this card as most of the channels would be available FTA.

The thing is that they are FTA as multistreams and the C/N lock for those is too high for the quality of the reception here. I am way out of the footprint, that's why I would like to have my card read by the octagon even if I will not get the paid channels...Thanks for your help!

Lots of changes try deleting channels that do no clear then rescan all including multi-stream.

I just re-scanned & some channels have returned some have gone.
Sport Italia is back on 12606 V 35500 Multi-Stream so is Mediaset Italia Due..

Anyone tell me why the option to factory default will not do anything at all ? Also does disqec 1.2 fully work ?

DiSEqC 1.2 works OK but if you use more than one receiver on the same motorised dish it is best to use DiSEqC 1.3 USALS.
