Silly man... The guy did what I asked but he put the bolt hole "ears" pointing inside the bracket, not outside. Looked sturdy enough, but is no good like it is now. He said he will fix it... only asked £10 for the job.

..
Glad he's going to sort it CJ...but you have to feel some sympathy for someone presented with a task who isn't up to speed what it is for and how it will be used..
Basically ..his ability to bring into being ..that which is perfectly formed in your head..
Not everyone has this ability.
Cant wait to see Twiggy(Twig) up n' running..

You are right VS. We had a laugh about it. I said it's the wrong way around and he said, turn it over :p

Hopefully will be ready soon but won't be able to pick it up until Thursday probably unless I manage to leave work earlier tomorrow.

I still need to find the time to put the dish up, wire it into the house and last but not least, get a receiver to drive it as I am still using mine in my flat.

It's a choice between Skybox/Openbox, the F15/TM5402 or DM500HD clone.

No point asking me buddy ...I'm biased with F15 coloured specs...
I'd imagine a Fibo with a quality LNB on an F15 ...
..well ...I'm imagining right now...

Just had a phone call saying it was ready. Will pick it up after work later today - let's hope it fits the dish (i.e. the spacing is correct between the two brackets).

It's here, it's here!

Looks like a properly solid job. He also gave me another steel plate with holes drilled out in it for the rounded screws that are on the back of the fixed mount. The polar mount doesn't have these bolts but I'll still use this extra plate for reinforcement.

Haven't tried it on the dish itself yet but spacing looks OK. Maybe slightly out at the top but not by much. Shouldn't be an issue.

I also gave him a £10 tip on top of the £10 he asked for - should come in handy for next I want him to do something!

Is that INOX material? Looks great. To make it even better you could change all nuts and bolts to INOX ones.

He said it was mild steel. Not sure if it's stainless but it's quite light.

Now need to source a 3" pole. These guys had some but they were aluminium and the wall was very thin... More of a drain pipe work than a 30 kilo dish holder.

How long does the pole need to be?

About 1m... maybe slightly longer. Basically I want a K-T-K mounting arrangement on the wall. I am thinking the three brackets should be able to hold the weight of the dish, the polar mount. jack arm and the pole itself.

Great project. The Fibo is a great dish, and they really perform well. The best LNB I tried on mine was the Inverto Black Pro and it did a good job. Just wish I still had the room to have it up.

KTK is definatly the way to go on the brackets, or even KKK I would consider using as small a stand off as possible and re-enforcing the brackets like the ones in the pic, the Fibo is pretty heavy, especially combined with the channel master mount. In effect your taking the heavier half of both dishes and putting them together. Plus the Fibo doubles as quite an effective sail lol.

My stand-offs are 24". I don't think I could really get away with a smaller one, with the jack arm being behind the thing. Also need the dish not to hit the wall!

...plus I already have the brackets doing nothing :D

Sorry for the late posting but I'm just catching up on what looks an interesting project CJ. If you think it would be useful I can give you some readings from Amos using the F15 and Laminas 1.2M.

Hmmm.....I'm 62 this year yet look at the world as though I was 20 (and with the sense of humour of an 8year old)So I don't think 70+ is that old........(dismounts hobby horse)

No offence intended Pete. I am "only" 31, so 70-odd seems like some time away (though the time seems to be speeding up!)

Would be good to get some readings from the F15 on the Amos cluster. Although, I suspect you might have a stronger signal where you are.

No offence taken - just some of us creeping up to pension age (and over bus pass age) don't like to be thought of as "old".
