Astra 2D is no longer operating. For Astra 2A/B, I think something in the region of 2.4 meters. 1N - forget it.

Hello Jeries, welcome to the forum.

As previously mentioned you can forget anything off Astra 1N - the beam is restricted to north western Europe, and you have no chance.

Before you spend loads of shekels be aware that 2A & 2B will be taken out of service in the next 18 months or so, and all reception parameters will change.

Google slingbox uk sky hosts. There are various sites will sell you sky via the internet from one of their data centres.

Its NOT cheap.

There are internet services offering a VPN (Virtual Private Network). There are many out there offering the opportunity of a portal through which to watch UK TV including Sky. I have a dish but also subscribe to a VPN to haver access to the iplayers. The software is very easy to install and then you can connect the PC to your TV and watch UK TV from Israel. I pay 5.50 pounds per month. I am not able to advertise here but search the net. There are many available and even a very good service which is free but carries advertising. Still worthwhile.

Is there a press release anywhere on that? I am very interested to know when this will happen. Is it safe to assume that the channels currently on 2A/2B will move to the pan-European beams of 2F/2E ? If so it is good news for us here in the Canaries as we don't currently have small dish access to the North beams.

Not sure if it's officially announced yet but once the Astra 2F starts broadcasting we can expect transponders to start switching over from other Astra satellites, like they did for 2D -> 1N. Then it's just a matter of time before they are all transferred over and those of us in the east will have to look at bigger dishes or cancel our subs.

the only thing i can think of that been annouced is ses future fleet postition, it clear show astra 2d gone with another satille, and 2a and 2b moving to i think 19 and 23e respectivly. the future fleet suggest this will be in place by 2014 i suspect that once 2e and 2f are operationl that when 2a and 2b will go as they will have a bakcup as well as teh capicty

Nobody knows yet but remember 2E F & G all have spotbeams as well as pan European so any juggling of frequencies between uk & wide is possible. .

2F will probably just replace 1N - so thats late 2012/early 2013 depending on when she gets off the ground.

To watch Sky you need to have a subscription; you can however access many other free to air channels and the iplayers as I described above.
