As the signal weakens the demod become much more diffuse - this is below 4 degree elevation here out to the north

Still looking to see if anyone can paste the environment variable path text that is added during install.
And still wondering if not having it has any negatives on the program functionality.
Anyone?

It'll just mean you can't run it from the command-line without putting in a full path, no other difference.

Finding a local radio service is a very good way to find if the system is working - simply because the signal is there all the time & you arent waiting for a fleeting pass that only occurs evey 90 minutes!
I can find one easily enough but the audio quality is invariably awful. This bothers me. But I can't work out what processing (if any) I should be doing on the signal. I guess none but I'm not sure.

Satdump does not have a good demod for an FM radio station, if you want to test the dongle on a local FM radio station I would download a program called SDR console, it has a stereo decoder for broadband FM radio.

The bandwidth filters in satdump are not wide enough for a 150 KHz signal. (FM is +- 75 KHz deviation for a total of 150 KHz)

I use the SDR console program to listen to my favorite FM station running audio into my sound card that has some nice speakers, it also will decode the RDS signals from some FM stations.

As far as the satellite audio on satdump, the NOAA APT or the Meteor M2-x LRPT 72K or 80K algorithms are all that would be needed, and your only going to hear audio on the NOAA APT decoding algorithm, so any additional audio processing is not needed.

Thanks. I can hear audio clearly using Audiospy and WFM decoding. Thanks for the explanation!

Very Lucky today: M2-4 passed on the right path to avoid buildings and trees so i got an amazing image at 16:30

I am still getting a good pass from M2-4.This one is 15.49 I think that that time is UTC. It looks to be the same one that ciro70 got.it looks to be another one over the top.

Met 2.4 1435 utc 65 degree west elevation & a fabulous pass :)

Greenland to Tunisa - I'll take that as a result :-respekt

As received - no post processing apart from using win10 snipping tool to reduce the image size for the forum - no trimming needed at the north & south extremes of the image

Yeah, but I'm getting the base map at least. I got a corner of Argentina and Antarctica today .

Your base map should be of Europe & the north Atlantic - we cant see that far south. As Pontiend says go into the configurationbox & make sure you have the correct NOAA set

Had a very good pass this afternoon on M2-4, looks like it's back on track, no more sideways photos.

You can see our snow pack real good, looks to be a nice summer on the lake.

Antarctica and NZ, Antarctica and Argentina. I'm so confused. I understand I shouldn't be able to see them, but this data is coming from the sat(s), no?

Ah I think I see the source of your confusion. The maps arent transmitted by the satellite. They are underlays generated by the software. Effectively the data transmitted from NOAA is the cloud detail. The "weather maps" we like so much are composite images built up from NOAA & the software.

Have you updates the tles? In SETTINGS - GENERAL SAT DUMP - UPDATE TLE NOW

Also have you set the proper satellites in configure. If you do not set the proper NOAA sat the default will be NOAA15.You have to untick Engage Autotrack to change it.If not changed to the proper satellite it will defoult to N15 if you are scanning N!8 or 19 the map will be wrong.
