Satdump software & wxsat reception

I had a rare good pass on M2-3 today, apart from the normal dead bands it look good as far as the weather goes, at least for the next week or so.

Ive been away for a few days but Ive set my system up again for the incoming Storm Ashleigh.

And there it is out to the west of Ireland

There are billions of tons of the bloody stuff falling all over north western Scotland - help yourself. Little rain here today but its VERY windy- a gust of 42.5mph reached at 1900 bst

I am getting disapointing results latley.I took the antenna down two weeks ago for a garage reroof something is not right.I will be taking it down tomorrow weather permitting to check the connections.

My eastern passes normally arent very good due to hills but this is a nice one. Virtually the whole of central & eastern Europe has been captured

I got a nice clean pass of M2-4 today. 14.22 GMT EL 77.18.Still getting some iffy ones on the NOAAs.I think that most of the problem is low elevation too far east and west plus restricted view of the sky.

Something interesting in Satdump for anyone registered on the Eumesat site. Satdump now has the ability to download & display some of the Eumetsat data via a new setting called archive loader!

This guide works quite well - you will need to log into your account on the Eumetsat portal & get a couple of specific unique key settings.

I cant figure out the direct processing yet but downloading a MSG 0 degrees longitude file from the Eumetsat data portal & processing it has resulted in this image which is rather nice. This was the midday uk time file.

I've been having some serious noise problems lately, and can't quite locate the problem, I'm thinking along the lines of the PC causing it, so I'm waiting on some shielding material to come in, I see the noise spikes on both satdump and SDR console.

Here is a screen shot from SDR console, the green area is the 137.1 MHz span for the NOAA satellites, the two noise spikes are the problem, they seem to swamp the receiver dongle and degrade the satellite signals, I have an NOAA bandpass filter inline so it's not something further up or down the band.



And I have nothing anywhere around me that could be transmitting on these frequency's.

I'm also looking for some type of USB in-line power supply filter, anyone have any suggestions.
