Good evening, today I decided to try to catch the Brazilian satellite operational a few months ago the Star One C4/D2 satellite at 70.0°W
and i was amazed to get it despite being out of range of the most amazing footpprint i also got analog channels on my old echostar 3000 even though the colors are not perfect because they use PAL-
M and echostar cannot decode this color because it has only pal-i and pal-b/g
they still have 17 analog channels I didn't think to pick up analog channels anymore hehehheheh.

The analogues were certainly a trip back in time. You won’t find too many of them about these days. Nice find.

This is so amazing!
If it's not too much trouble, perhaps a video with analog channels zapping?

With 5G here, analog channels will switch to ku band soon.

I'm using this receiver to watch analog channels, lol:

We have about 31 analog channels.

@duck77 Where you from?

How about try Starone C2 Ku band?

Frank

Very interesting that they're not using it as an opportunity to switch to digital! Is there any talk about an analog switch off? Brazil is the only country in the world to still use analogue satellite.

There is still no date for the shutdown of the analogue satellite signal. There is a timetable for the analog terrestrial (shutdown (2023), but the satellite will take longer.

Are there any statistics about how many people use analogue satellite still? Has there been promotion of the fact that people will need a new dish?

I don't know TV situation in Brazil, but analog TV usage could be related to very sudden and torrential tropical rain and thunderstorms in that area of the world. Brazil is so large, and if they use such satellite link to supply terrestrial transmitters they can not risk long blackouts in so large areas for so many people.
Also, this could be the reason for which they often use C band instead of Ku band.
Please correct me if I wrong. Thanks.

Today, Anatel estimates that 20.7 million homes have satellite TV, of which 17 million satellite dishes are open signal (the rest have cable TV).

I think this 17 milion using analog...

"Has there been promotion of the fact that people will need a new dish?"

No... it's about 5G implementation. See the second link.

Here it is a little different from the United States and other regions of America. We don't have these ecological disasters caused by the rains...

The biggest problem now is the occupation of the band that will be destined for 5G, so they need to use a good part of the digital satellite band and practically all of the analog.

The first link: ISDB-T and analog terrestrial transmission.

Second link: DVB-s/s2/s2x and analog satellite transmission.

“The introduction of new technologies in the electromagnetic spectrum leads to the procedure that is called band cleaning. We have a service that occupies the lane, and for the new one to be implemented, the old one needs to go out. On 4G, we had to clear the 700 megahertz (MHz) band. Now, in 5G, we need to clean up the 3.5 gigahertz (GHz) band”, explained the Secretary of Broadcasting at the Ministry of Communications, Maximiliano Martinhão.
