For the newbies to the forum, you need to understand that there are TWO VERY DIFFERENT versions of the 6906, but Paul's f/w upgrade applies ONLY to the early version - and if you have the later version
(which you probably do have if you bought it within the last 3 years or so) then using the early version will cause a major issue by "locking it", but that can be cleared by doing a Factory Reset.

I ran into the same issue myself, but finally solved it earlier this year - and then created a replacement f/w upgrade bin file which
does work on the later version, and mentioned that in another thread.
However, for simplicity, I am repeating the critical info from that thread here, as follows: The bin file that I created after I reset my 6906 to remove the "Lock" light, and then entered transponders on the strongest beams for the UK a number of European satellites (In Jan 2018) is here:

Hopefully, that will allow a locked late-version 6906 to be reset and to load that reasonably current satellite and transponder database.
