F3 is a very nice box! The only disapointment for me: It can't be used as a server.

I'll try a 2.5 inch sata drive/caddy on the F3 for you at some point soon ...but I can tell you ..the S9HD handles one perfectly well ..

Nice one, VS: I was pleasantly surprised USALS has worked consistently apart from when I crashed the F3 yesterday as it is sitting on top of the Foxsat and I'd forgotten to put it in Standby (Foxsats get hot hot hot!).

So if a single USB Port provides enough power for an HDD, I'll be well chuffed - The supplied Y cables ain't no use with the F3 and an external power source would make things messy.

Very Odd Nelson ..screen is totally black here ...
I'll try scanning them in manually....possibly a PID mixup during the auto scan

Hmmm...
I think I have inadvertantly found a flaw in the S9s firmware ..
Just scanned Huntingdon beach in on the F15 ....perfect...
A wild guess but there are no audio pids on board ...perhaps this is having the effect of muting the video ??
Absolutely bizzare..
Anyone got an S9 and could try this ??

Tomorrow I'll clone the entire channel database from the S9 to the F3 ...as is ....just to check its working ..
I suspect it will be ..and the problem is specific to the S9
No other channels I've checked show this oddity ...but it is certainly there.
Idealy I need another S9 owner to check this transponder to confirm my findings.
cheers

VS, whenever I've looked at Huntingdon Beach, either with the F15 or the VU+ there's never been any sound, which I thought was because it's a webcam feed. Sorry I can't check now, as tree growth has closed off that part of the arc for me.

Hi Pete ..
That was sort of the point I was making ..
The lack of audio (audio PID) May be the reason the S9 doesn't cope with this channel ...ie it doesn't like webcams.
Just trying logically to find a reason why the F3 and the F15 produce video from Huntingdon ..yet the S9 cannot ..from the same very strong signal.
There has to be a reason ..and being the inquisitive sod that I am ...etc ...etc
;)

Odd channels those ones, I've never found a codec/renderer combination that produces moving images, I've always had to use VLC. The other thing I've noticed, it's never night time. Oh yes, the box is here too so I'm scanning in a few birds up here before taking it downstairs and setting up a Zone2 on 19 and 23, looks good so far. Mrs Aceb commented that the BBC HD channel looked 'nice' so a :-righton there.

Is it too much to ask that in July I can quickly throw up another dish fixed on 24.5W without needing to wear a fleece, coat and gloves and getting cold and wet? Utterly pissed off with the weather and this so called summer.

Sorry Paul ...yes its too much to ask ..
The BBCnews have even confirmed publicly what I've been shouting for over 10 years this morning ..
The changes in climate extremes are here to stay ..at least for the forseeable..

They quoted decades .. 20 years + ..and finally 50 ..
In truth ..they don't really know ...but its as plain as the nose on your face.
This is how it will be from now on ..
The extremes might well swing the other way occasionally over the UK ..
But its doubtfull..
In the short term ..It took over three months for the jet stream to move to pass South of the UK ..
Its suggested its _still_ moving South..
..but if a reversal does occur it will take months to re-trace ..which puts us in Autumn at the very least.
My gut says ...No summer this year...
My head says ..Non next year either...etc etc
Brave the weather an get her up mate..better than waiting for the summer that will most likely never come.
At least you'll then have something to occupy you whilst you experience 'cabin fever'
