Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Yup
I realise that our bills look high by comparison with some of those you guys have posted, but it's actually far lower than it used to be, and the house is a lot warmer than then - for example, the first year I lived here in 1976-77, the house was "all electric" but actually had very little heating apart from 3 storage heaters and pretty cold but the Winter Quarter bill was £300 (now factor in 40 years inflation and work out what it would be now at that rate!) because of the very large exterior solid walls area. Also it's actually very close to the "national average" for a house (an end of terrace with 3 large bedrooms, and so effectively a "semi") with 900sq ft floor area in the main section + about another 200 sq ft in the attached single storey extensions with glazed roofs) of this size.

Both of us grew up in very, very cold buildings and DID NOT LIKE THAT AT ALL, and we are both getting on (70 &68) and not in the best of health or very mobile (bad knee in my case, and multiple causes in my wife's) and so want/need to stay warm & comfortable.

I take the point about the IOT risks to the supplies being switched off remotely - TBH, I had not considered that when I agreed to have those meters fitted, and I can only hope that it never happens . OTOH, that's about the only IOT application that will come into this house if I have my way.

That's good going mate, I'm actually envious of your gas burn, I thought I was doing good, you have officially shattered my illusions now in regards to my Gas usage.

I am trying for a similar annual expenditure. My bedroom is currently at a sweltering 12 degrees.20170210_111836.jpg

Boom!

As stated further up t'Thread, I took note of the fuss about nPower putting up Leccy prices a couple of weeks ago and promptly changed my SP Tariff to fix until Jan 19.

SP have just this morning announced their own swingeing increase of 10.8% on Electricity.

Got my timing right for once :D

Dirty b@$t@rd£, well done mate, I'm on a price plan I never even asked for, the stand up to cancer one, not locked in though.

Mine is a price fix tariff with d.g. And no penalty for changing tariffs or suppliers.

It's called a fixed saver16 & its paperless billing.

There is a standing charge per day. But works out my cheapest tariff on the annual price.

Yes, that's what I switched to .... it was marginally more expensive than a further one year fix before today's rise, so is now the cheapest, by a decent margin.

The standing charge is the thing they always try to bamboozle you with Chris isn't it!? When you used to have the cold calling agents (especially B.G.) they would basically say look were cheaper for leccy at this much per unit but fail to mention their standing charge would wipe the calorific saving per unit out the game completely.

I always put in my average usage (6,778 KWh/Year) and base my prices on the overall cost.

Oh and I shut the door in anyone's face, that bang my door trying to"sell" me something.

I have always managed to keep my monthly payment the same or cheaper, but it will be a tough one this year.

Crikey, Chris, I have a decent sized property and, even using leccy to cook, only use 3400 KwH/yr.

Do you Tumble-Dry the dog every day?!

Jus double checked the application and it's got 6,778 kWh/year

Unit price 2.89p per kWh excl vat
Standing charge 8.0p per day excl vat

Found the monthly payment sheet, my annual usage has gone down.

As this is the new monthly payments.

In saying that for the brief time I had British Gas (43 days) I was sure I must have built a test bed platform with the gas turbine engine off a Merlin helicopter running of the mains gas! lol

Right enough with the cover stories, we're all friends here........ and friends help each other out right? So in saying that, here's Edinburgh's coordinates: 60.75915950226991/-3.515625
Just make sure missus wiggy Nicola Sturgeon and the rest of that lot in that crappy Scottish parliament are in session at the time of your "demonstration" of its power lol

My very next task after this one is to switch.

FYI, here are some pics of the internal roof insulation that I installed:
