My soldering kit, I also have a TS-100 but that's in my tool bag, I have a few tips for both the Hakko and the Weller, I tend to use a 1.2mm straight chisel on the Weller for fine stuff, the Hakko has hot swappable tips that I have a few of but they are stupidly expensive, however they do contain the heating element. I had a New Metcal/OKI Hot air station but it annoyed me as it was diaphragm based and believe it or not that £29 WEP 858D is incredible, much better than the Metcal/OKI and quiet.

Just bought two of these lathes, very useful for everyone whose hobby is producing battleship gun turrets.
:O)

Very "old generation" tools/weapons - but might be the reinvention of the battleship as an actual fighting vessel (Lebanon, many years ago, was, IIRC, the last time a battleship was actually used in "real world action"). OTOH, you might have "collared the market" and make a "bomb" - or should I say, a "shedload".

Having seen the instore flyer this morning, Lidl will be reprising some of their tool offers from earlier in the year from the 9th Aug, but something new was a (non-sat) crimping tool and a selection of crimps for less than a tenner.
NB: these things don't currently appear on their website.

Lidl: Just in case anyone bought one, there is a Product Recall on the Lidl Powerfix Profi Quick Wiring Kit

I don't remember seeing this in the stores, and I suspect (from the "Scotchlock" type connectors shown) it was meant for low voltage vehicle wiring but people have been using it for mains-voltage jobs!

Ref the WEP 858D, that piqued my interest and so I just did a search on that item - and the Amazon reviews threw up that some of the units have various potentially nasty safety faults/issues. I suggest you take a look at the Customer reviews here and then check your unit out.

Thanks for the heads up, however I'm well aware of the issues on "858D's", the first thing i did was open it and check it out when I got it.
And it was a good one, but there are so many clones of clones etc out there it can be hard to work out which one is decent or not.

Glad to hear that - but's it's still a warning to anyone else thinking of buying one.

The crimping tool kit is now here on the Lidl website

Some SAT-related hardware.

I have found rubber mats and insulation material useful in the cabinet. Made "sandwich" ruuber/insulation/rubber and cut holes in upper two layers to have stuff placed nicely.

Toolstation, not Lidl, this time!

I've been using one of their Formula 600 Toolboxes for several months now, and it's been the first one I've come across for a long time that has a decent, and decently-sized, set of compartments on the top that DON'T fly open (even when pretty fully-loaded) when you let the top fall back over so as to access the interior lift-out tray and/or what is below that.

Very robust and good value for £16.05

Does anyone know who might sell these ?
The Drunkard's Cloak - The Dabbler

I had considered an iron maiden , but two outlets claim they no longer have actual nails to keep miscreants in place, one increasing annual profits by exchanging them for latex 'dongs', whatever they might be.

SO, "someone" (I wonder who that might be ) in your immediate vicinity seems deserving of a long session in either a Drunkard Cloak or an Iron Maiden!!! :-rofl2

Then, assuming you can find one (or more!) "real ones", does that mean that he/they will incarcerated in your garage (along with all that old sat & electronic kit!) for a "To Be Determined" period, or will they get early release for "good behaviour"? :-lmao

@Terryl (and others, mainly the "younger ones"!) might not understand that quote :-rofl2 - they should "google" "Dad's Army" + that quote (actually it should have been "Don't tell him, Pike"), and then follow the one with the words "Hitler is a twerp":)
