I have done that on the shorter bolts, but some of the ones on the fenders are too long to do it that way.

I have also tried an 11 mm 12 point deep socket, it works until the nut corners round out, an SAE 7/16" socket is too small, a 1/2" is too big.

Here is an update, I found a bolt extractor set that worked on square nuts and rounded over bolts, used with an air impact wrench it works wonders.

Here is a photo, fenders off, wheel wells repaired and primed for undercoating, body panel below the trunk (boot in you case) replaced with new, inner trunk repaired and coated with trunk liner stuff, 90 % of rusty spots repaired or replaced, old engine (216ci, 3.5 liter) and transmission removed and a replacement 350ci (5.7 liter) Chevy motor and transmission found at junk yard, working on that later.

I do need to replace the front suspension, so I need to look for what is called a "Hot Rod" front end for that model car, that means I need to cut the old front end off and weld in the new one.

So it looks like it may be a winter long project as this summer is going to be a hot one.

This is what I used, it's available on Amazon. It's both English and metric sized.

I've been busy these last few months since the last post, I've stripped the body down from anything that is bolted to it, and I have it suspended with the bottom facing out so I can sandblast the bottom and coat it with a rust converter and sealer.

Here is a look at this fun job.

And from another angle, it's suspended between two winches both rated to 2000 pounds. The chain is rated to 8000 pounds, and the supporting structure can handle the same.

Applying the undercoating tomorrow, then it's going to be set on a rolling cart I built to move it around, this so I can work on the chassis, it's due for some sandblasting, and modification to mount a 350 ci Chevy small block, and a new rear end.

it gives me a headache just thinking about the work involved.

i would also be worried about the weight pulling the roof down.

The way I have it set up is with a chain stretched between the two 4" square up-rites, it is connected with a grade 8 - 1/2 inch bolt on a 3000 pound rated "L" bracket using a 1700 pound rated clevis at each end, the sideways pull is countered with the 6 inch cross beam that goes between the two up-rites.

300 pounds pulling to the right down the cross beam and 300 pounds pulling to the left down the cross beam, so the load is transferred down the uprights.

And using two winches the load is spread out between them, the whole body weighs about 600 pounds, using the two winches divides that load between them, the green straps are rated at 500 pounds apiece, using 4 corner lift points divides that load 4 ways for about 150 ponds per strap.
