Yes but you said the test card has no signal? I'm getting all the other channels on it but no test card.

Previous report of no signal was probably due to rain,

What other channels do you get from 3 west ?

I have 11682 V 19410 id=D-382 FRBG 3K24 on the 100cm dish TM6902 gives 48% SQ encrypted

The ABS test card is back now, it was absent earlier today but now returned.

While the Octagon SX88 is a very good receiver however it would be a better guide to signal quality if it was in dB % like the Dr HD & TM5400 M3,
The SX88 gives me lots of SQ=100% that display the correct SQ on the TM6902HD,

The list below is a good example of this when you compare this chart with the one that I compiled in post #6 of this thread for the SX88 with 88cm dish:-

This guide is for setting up either a fixed or Motorised dish system.

Strongest TP on 31.5e for me is 12402 V 30000 DVB-S2 8PSK, location: Southern UK

Definitely a contender for the Weakest transponders list
Got it to 22% 3.4dB if I nudge this dish a step or 2. What are you getting it at?

Getting 22% aswell on the Oct SX88+ 1.25m dish. I dont know why the signals so rubbish, the footprint is targeted at Europe and its not inclined.

You using USALS Or Diseqc, you have a bigger dish than me. Is it landing on 22%? can you tweak it to get any more?

Using a VBox which is a doesn't work properly which means I can't fine tune but even if I could I don't think I would get anymore than 22%, also the dish sits underneath a tree which probably doesn't help either. On the good side though I've gone from 56% on some channels to 98% in the past month from various improvements I've been carrying out.

That's great news, did the coax help at all?

Yep I would say so, some frequencies have remained relatively the same whilst others have improved more than 50% (by replacing the LNB with an IBU, using WF125 coax and getting a more sensitive receiver). The coax itself I would say improved the signal about 15-18% on some transponders. Overall most satellites are coming in loud and clear apart from 3W, I can now pickup the sub-saharan african beam on 36e and even the high beam on 31e which I couldn't before. The only thing I can do to improve the signal even more is either a bigger dish (neighbours won't be happy) or modifying the LNB which I plan on doing later this year.

is 3.9 strong enough to bleed over to 3w?

The bleed over from adjacent satellites with strong transponders is related to the beamwidth of the dish. Small dishes generally have a wider beamwidth than larger ones. If you compared a 1m dish to a 1.5m dish, a lot of the bleed over suffered by the 1m dish would be eliminated on the 1.5m dish

I have listed below the beamwidths for the Elite Antennas range of prime focus dishes. You can see how the beamwidth degree is narrowing with increase in dish size and thereby reducing bleedover.

Size Beamwidth (degrees)
0.9m 2.07
1.2m 1.40
1.5m 1.20
1.8m 1.03
2.2m 0.79
2.4m 0.77
3.0m 0.60
3.7m 0.47
4.5m 0.40

That's very interesting! I should have a 1.2m here soon. Quite a difference!
