First test of the first modded C1PLL ...done and returned to the TD110 ...and just in time before the rain I suspect ..
Also put a couple of small drill holes in the Titanium feed to hopefully drain rainwater...which will inevitably collect ..
Running fine atm ..but will it still be after the rain ??

Well thats the 54W C1PLL modded and re-fitted ..
I'll never get the kind of traffic Confucian gets ...not with my pair of 1.1m dishes ..
Very much Time of Day for best results ..
Nonetheless ...I can report NO DRIFT to speak of ..
There is a tiny bit when the lnbs are first powered ...but within seconds they are both on channel and dont move..

Confucian wouldn't be getting any "results" at all if it wasn't for all the info, inspiration and direct help he gets from the like of this forum and the people on it.
Drift :- Another one of S-B's ideas, Sunshades made from plastic bottles sprayed silver on the inside, also helps a lot in direct sunlight. Using these and the TCXO mod Eliminate most of the drift. Next step I'm having a go at is a 10mhz OCXO stepped up to 25mhz and fed out to all three LNB's, Work in its infancy at the minute as the learning curve is very steep. !!! LoL

I was about to ask the obvious question.
I freely admit I dont know the answer to this .Maybe some thing to do with Rotation ..Coriolis effect..wind speeds..or some such.
or so I thought..
..why go so far out of your way south to advance west ?
It must cost a lot of fuel , doubling the distance travelled.
Then I think it hit me like a brick..
Think in 3 dimensions.
The globe map is a flattened sphere ...but the actual track of the plane is a straightish line so would appear to curve down and up ..but is actually straighter than it appears.
?????

I have one more space I think ...for a suitable dish ...
at ground level and in the vacant space near my back door ..
As luck would have it this location will just allow me clear access to 25E ...
Problem is ..I have only had success with a C1PLL offset on my 1.5m dish with this Inmarsat ..
I have however a Gibby 1.2 doing sod all but missing several mounting bits ...so I'll have to improvise.
...and of course no idea if this will be sufficiently large.
First job is to dig it out ..mount the tripod and hang an lnb on it ..and roughly point it at 25E ..
If I dont get some useful activity ..then there would be no point to the project ...but I guess it's worth a punt.
I'll let you know..

They have had a new boiler fitted up the street ..so went rooting in their skip ..and found just what I needed ..
A half box section strip of steel ...which was perfik for the job ..
I guess it pays to keep ones eyes open ..

My main worry here is that the Gibby (Neil) is only 5.5mtrs to the rear of Carl ....and in a direct line ...
So my worry is that Carl masks some of Neils signal at 25E ..
Suck it n see time methinks..

So unless it is a time of day thing and inclined sat wobble ..1.2m may be insufficient ..

See The Aero Thread.. when 25E was 6dB down on 15W for me (1.5m poorly illuminated). See also Confucian's posts soon after

Been trying most of the day ...but rarely enough signal to even register as useful on SDR#
..and certainly no movement of the constellation on jaero ..
I will watch this closely to see if it ever registers a plane ..

Hi , I started out using a 1.4m offset dish of dubious manufacture on 25E that was a bit worse for wear having flown off my roof rack at 50mph. I used this method to straighten it out a bit.

. Signals were ok and decodeable, not bad for my first attempt as a relative novice and I think I could of improved them with a bit more patience and experience. I now have that bird on a 1.8m prime (petal) dish which works fine but may be more prone to the affect of the wobble.

As I suspected 1.2m may well not be enough ..and since I have limited space 1.8m isn't practical ...
1.4 <> 1.5 just maybe ..
I guess I just start hoping I discover one locally ..
Unlikely ..but possible.
