That's a misconception of how fractional reserve banking works. They're lending ~85% of your deposit and keeping a fraction at hand as not all customers wants to withdraw their money at the same time.

OK - but the "fractional reserve" refers to the original deposit and doesn't prevent the bank lending out the 85% multiple times.

Biscuits.

Why do shelf-stackers take great delight in hurling boxes of biscuits around wth g a y abandon?

I can guarantee that virtually every packet I buy, however carefully chosen, has at least ten per cent of the contents broken.

Actually, that is a gripe of itself.

Why the hell should I be prevented from using, in context, a word that has long standing meaning other than one of a s e x u a l nature?

Technology should serve us, not rule us!

It never has allowed the double space, unless of course you interrupt the sequence by using an alternative keyboard or accent marks!

Go on, use the word with gäy abandon, should not be a problem!

Spell it with an e!

Gaye abandon will work ok!

And another thing.

Apropos of not a lot, I noticed the acronym LBGTQ a couple of days ago and wondered what the Q meant.

Check it out with your Search Engine of choice.

What comes around goes around.

Well I for one have always loved binary, it drives the whole electronic world!
Also stops the use of some words, such as gäy, lesbiän, bisexuäl, tränsgender and of course, binäry!

Alternatively, we could make all posts in Boolean!
Some years ago I read about a new college/university which had put appropriate labels to doors of the various departments. Underneath that was a sliding window showing whether the room was empty or occupied.

In the mathematics department there was a door with a nameplate "Boolean Mathematics - Occupied" and underneath that a rotatable arrow which could be turned from "True" to "False" as required.

Well, it tickled my sense of humour.

In Java the class "Boolean" (but not the primitive "boolean") has three states - true, false and null (not defined) :)

I've always preferred the primitive version of everything...
