Looking forward to testing the new feeds ...
Not expecting miracles .but any improvement would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like my initial curiosity on these US lnbs is taking off with DXers..
I can't claim to be the first to try this outside the US...but strongly suspect my curiosity led to me possibly being the first in the UK.
I am so pleased to have triggered the natural curiosity and enthusiasm of UK DXers...regarding the SL3s
Once again my thanks to Trust for sharing his creativity.

Ofcourse big hands for you VS , without your work i would not have such quick result .
I spread the knowledge on several boards , my help is more the mechanical part of it .
I'm still struggeling with CrasyScan , now running on my Profcard 7301 .
Is there a special file for using that SL3K lnb ?

Yes there is Trust ..
Crazycat only did one compatible version as far as I know ..
In direct response to me pleading for it.
This version allowed the reversed scale used with Saorsat lnbs to be used ..but with the SL3 local osc parameters to be inserted ..
I think I still have a zipped up copy of my Crazyscan directory somewhere ..
PM me an email address and When I find it ..Ill send you a copy..
I did the same thing for Llew ....so he also has a copy.

.... also must say that it was VS's stellar experimental crusade that inspired me to give them a go. When you look back over all his posts you can see he's put some man hours in to the job .... hat's off to you.

Posted feeds off just after 9 this morning 1st class signed for, so they should be with you tomorrow. I have had a play today, the extra bit of feedhorn Trust kindly sent us has given me about anothe half a dB gain. I modded anothe SL3 last night for this experiment.

Just a half dB ? thats dissapointing !
The first time I received UNIRE (Astra 19.2) the profit was 1.5 dB using that horn ( without DE plate )
With a 20 x 11.5 x 2 mm PVC plate in the troath , signal from 11.8 dB to 15.1 dB.
@ Scopus
On wich sat / freq. you did the test ? with or without the transparent cover , howmuch dB ?
Is the focal lenght the optimum ?
A lot of questions but i like to know .

Hi Trust,

This is on the ITN feeds on 19E. I will do more testing over the next few days, it may be more than that, but the ITN stuff is notorious for the signal level to go up and down. I have just tested the nag feed and that returns 14.8 db. That is on the the other port in the picture, I'm using the Inverto feedhorn there as, I didn't want to carve up one of your feeds to accomodate the extra ring on the the modded port, which has been made linear friendly. The Newsnet feed on the modded port returns 13db at the moment, very overcast here with rain due soon. I will test without the cover when I get chance. The focal length is indeed at optimum.

Ok Crazyscan 1.0.1.88 sent to both Trust and Chris...
I hope you both receive the zipped directory..
If not I will rar in smaller segments and try again..
It is approx 6mbs
Not all email providers support such large attachments..
Let me know if and when it arrives.
You may well have to either create the neccessary sub directories to maintain the root path ...or make changes to the crazyscan ini file
good luck

there is a big difference in signal there , UNIRESAT 16.6 dB Newsnet 10.7 dB SIS91-G20347 8.4 dB with my Dr HD F16

Yes got it fine thanks, just waiting for a compatible sat card. As it's not working with the TBS 6983.

The technisat Sky star card works from what I have read. Might need to get one soon.
The Technisat Skystar eXpress HD card, which works with Crazyscan, is out of production now Chris - Amaz*on has some at the time of posting.

Gonna have to wait a week or two, as not got any spare cash.

Thanks for clarifying the name of the card. :-)

.... Well, the Trust Ka feedhorns got delivered just now and i can confirm that they are truly a lovely job. They even come with a free gift of a twin feed template / cover as well as the before mentioned "left-overs" :).
A big thanks again to Trust and also to Chris (Scopus) for being the middle man and outlaying the cash and postage duties. Great job both. :-applause

Got my Ka feedhorns this morning ..
Cheers to Trust and Scopus..
They are mini works of art..
;)
Not really fit enough to play out and experiment fully atm ..
plus it is a cold wet miserable day here..
But popped outside removed the plastic cap and popped 2 feeds into the mounted SL3 ...and loosley held in place with aluminium tape..
I immediately saw a 0.5 db improvement on Playboy 3D signal level ...
No lnb adjustments made ..dish not moved etc.
just with and without images taken with the TBS card ...
here they are and clearly you can see the 0.5db jump.
As said previously I'm not expecting a miracle ..cos I already have my system pretty much maxed out..
Nonethless the tiniest gain is important ..and there may well be a bit more to be had.
Again ...Thanks Trust ...
My conclusion so far ..
These mini Ka feeds are well worth the trouble.
:)

Yup, got mine + extra bits this morning. Fine-looking pieces they are too.

Much experimenting to do, but will need to sort out a suitable LNB holder for the -01.

Thanks go again to Trust and scopus :D

I think with that horn attached to the lnb , the lnb must pulled back from the dish about a half inch .
Its all very tricky , specialy with that SL3K in front of the FIBO supreflector , just a tiny mis adjustment , and my signal decrease dramatic .
