So with larger dishes, it will be less than 4°.

Bad news concerning my SL3 -01 version.
Getting ready to do some mods on it, I ran into a problem removing the casting over the PCB: two of the screws refused to budge, so I was forced to drill them out.
Not wanting to drill right down towards the PCB, I had to leave a tiny amount of the screw head still intact, hoping I could easily remove the casting with a little leverage.
No go, so I drilled the remaining part of the heads down a fraction more. Luckily I was able to remove it now, but I think as the casting still offered some resistance, I reckon it caused the PCB to warp very slightly.
Possibly a hairline crack somewhere on the board, as there's no output apart from masses of spikes across the spectrum.
I will need to do a detailed visual check over the PCB, but happily in the meantime I still have my SL3 -03 in good order.

Yuk. Missing comp0nents from the Ka DRO to the Wilkinson. Presumably a ceramic capacitor, plus a resistor to ground. Must've flown during removal of the screw to the right of DRO area.

I have another SR3-01 on order, so I could check with that - unless someone could tell me at least the value of the resistor if or when they have one opened up at any time?

Not urgent, but thanks if you do have it disassembled one day.

Morning, It looks like a 51R to deck, and a ceramic cap - not sure of the value but probably 1 or 2pF, maybe something removed from old Ku band LNB inter-stage coupling would do the job. You should be able to test it once reassembled by looking for the +- 11.15GHz carrier using another Ku LNB to downconverter to IF then checking with a spec-an or tool like EBS pro. I did band-saw a Ka LNB in half a few years back, will see if I still have the bits left in case you need them.

Yes, guessed the cap would be on the low side. I had put one from an old Inverto LNB, which measured around 6.8pF on my cap meter. Spent ages this morning getting that aligned and soldered in (eyesight not too good these days). May be too large, will have to see. Just need to find a resistor now, cheers.

His VS, A few picture of I think the Mk4 version of my modding. On the modded port I have the cone feed and on the unmodded port the new feedhorn with the dielectric slab fitted. I have not got a sat card yet, but the ITN Newsnet feed return nearly 80% quality, before it was around 72% and a couple of feed return around 50 odd %,this is about 10% higher than the modded port with the cone feed, so for me this is the best yet, well pleased. Notice though, my slab is the opposite angle than Trusts one, I think this is due to him using a a Gregory dish with the sub refelector. I can see I'm going to have to get greg dish back into service.

That vertical one is the capacitor scopus, I've got one in, just the resistor I need now. I'll try the value Paul's given.

Needed an hour just to get my vision back in order after replacing the cap. Tweezers and soldering bit look like plumber's tools under the magnifier
