It’s been a while in the making but finally the 7 day EPG firmware has finally arrived from the manufacturer. Many said it wouldn’t but TM came across in the end. Read the instructions carefully before applying the firmware update Technomate Support - TM-5402 M4

Just a follow up. The 7 day EPG is working perfectly now. All the other bits and pieces mentioned in the manufacturers firmware release notes are working as advised. This firmware upgrade is definitely worth applying.

Of course there is a 3rd party corresponding firmware available from here. Personally I don’t use it but no doubt it’s working too.

Just thought I’d mention it for completeness and it’s a direct download without being wrapped up in a zip file. Straight from the horse’s mouth

It’s ironic that all the so called flaws in this box that were supposedly not going to be addressed and the box being deemed as rubbish according to supposed “experts” on another forum are slowly but surely being resolved. I chuckled when the much sought after 7 day EPG function finally arrived. I imagine they were left eating their words on that one. Obviously with the ongoing firmware improvement downloads from TM and the 3rd party patch from the download centre for those that way inclined, the M4 is becoming a very useful sat box.

These issues should have been resolved before the box was released. Not sure how far back you go with TM boxes but they used to have beta testers testing before they released the.

In all fairness you can say that about any box release nowadays, we, the paying punters are the beta testers!!

Yes the emphasis seems to be on shifting the boxes first and then iron out the firmware. I imagine that competing with manufacturers dropping a box with all the bells and whistles for £50 and leaving it to the buyer to do the testing, the temptation is for the likes of TM to follow suit.

Probably only a rookie as far as TM ownership is concerned (12 years) but the whole sat receiver industry has changed quite a bit since. The emphasis appears to be on getting the boxes to market as quickly and as cheaply as possible so the luxury of beta testing does not appear to high on anyone’s agenda.

I habe a question, I just purchased one and not sure how to update the firmware, is it the same way over the internet like the SX88 or does it involve computers (that I do t have lol) thx

edit: See manic01's answer below, much better than the faff I suggested

You can get SD card read/write dongles for iPads (IOS 13 & up). Then you'll need a generic USB SD card reader, all my satellite receivers work with them so *should* work on the M4, no guarantees though. Alternatively ask a friend to help or buy a cheap PC.
