Do you know of anyone with a 1M+ dish to try? I need a weekend away so could have a look at it for you.
I went back to the satellite man as he never got back to me and he is saying the dish size for Gran Canaria South is 1.8m. Today I have managed to get hold of a 1.2m dish which I am going to try over the next few days. Until I have tried this I refuse to believe what he says! I will report.

I'd say you'd be fine with a 1.2, as long as the dish is ok and isn't bent/low gain etc.

here in fuerteventura north we can get with a 1.25 prime focus but i know a short distance from here to gran canaria can be a big difference in dish size needed

I am not sure what the origins/spec of the dish are. There are no visible dents or obvious distortion. It is going to be "suck it and see" !!

Hi Baz, I assume you have a Polar Mount and Actuator on your setup?

Did you buy it in Fuerte and if so, how much was it, including dish?

We are just in the process of buying another place in Caleta, just sold our 1 bed one, going up to two now. :)

Not sure at the moment about placement of a dish and may just go for IPTV, but I may be interested in your old one if you decide to sell.
Any idea of timescale?

Anything to report yet?

We get 77% quality on a 1.2m midway down Fuerteventura with a generic dish and TM5402 HD. :)

Well, I seem to have managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory so far !

I have mounted the 1.2m dish today and connected up my TM-5402 HD M2. I used a sat finder with the receiver showing the signal strength and quality for the "BBC" TP. Slight adjustment of the dish caused the meters to go blue and yellow (from red) and I think the signal was about 97% and the quality about 70%. I scanned the TP and it saved the channels. However, now it is saying no signal even though my beeper is telling me the bird is there. I have tried readjusting the dish but with no luck.

It is about 30 minutes since I had the signal. Could it have been a fluke? Could the signal have faded for some reason? I am lost!

You don't scan the transponder, once you enter it manually and find your signal using the TM , you have to manually enter the PIDS etc and then do the code.

I can send you a link with a page that tells you exactly what to do if I can PM you. It might not be allowed to put it on here.
If you have a signal as good as that on 11.495 then you should be fine once you have set it up correctly. :)

Good news. I have found the signal again. My elevation had got knocked off slightly somehow.

Signal is 97% and quality 65%.

I am now going to bring the receiver down into the house and try to actually receive the channels. Please PM me the info you refer to. I presume I am going to have to Ph*****patch my receiver to get BISS support.

OK - So here is the news from Maspalomas at the Southern tip of Gran Canaria. I am receiving the transmissions using a 1.2m offset dish with Inverto Black Ultra LNB and Technomate TM-5402 HD M2 CI receiver.

The signal strength is 97% and signal quality 63%.

A previous attempt using a 90cm dish failed.

I did not patch the receiver, however I did buy it second hand so maybe it had already been done. The system information reports the following (non of which means anything to me!):
Software version: 1.01p (Jan 29 2013)
Hardware version: 1.00
Boot version: 6.00
CH version: F015

Thanks for the info. I am only going to use the box to receive the UK channels from Intelsat 907 for the time being. As it is working, I am going to leave it well alone ;)

Hi Huevos, E2 receivers are a grey area on this one. From what I have read, if the PMT (whatever that is) is scrambled then E2 receivers can't decode the signal. TM5402HD''s and DrHD15's seem to have built in magic that just works. :)

Someone else may be able to give a highly technical answer as to the in's and out's of it.

Let me know when you are sure, and how much, and I will let you know. I am back out on Sept 25th for a flying 4 day visit, hopefully picking up the keys to the new place and starting to move our stuff in. :)
