Apart from hoping to image the north pole I should be able to get images over as far as Newfoundland, although I will probaly need to relocate the antenna again to reduce the house partially blocking the far west passes.

Something else that happens to me.It may be relevant it may not be.Every time that I boot the computer the audio defaults audio playback, back to DSGi tv.The tv that I use as a monitor.I suspect that if I was not using a tv that the computer would default to speakers.
Therefore the first thing that I do is reset cable input back to playback default.
Edit.
Analoguesat you have raised the bar again I have been sat down the garden looking at the chimney wondering how to get the antenna up there.:)
Edit again.I got my new cable today. Now I have a continous run into the garage.I now have only one joint that is in the garage safe from the weather

Thats an interesting issue with the audio @pontiend - Ive not seen the audio defaulting on my rigs (well the same rig but win10 then "upgraded" to win7)

As for getting the antenna on the chimney - get someone in to do it :D

Perhaps it is just my computer.I did a reboot before the last pass 1/2 hour ago.It defaulted to my tv as usual.I left it at that.
It did knacker the recording.I just wondered if that could be something to do with Terrlys problem.

Select the VB cable, then click the set default and it *should* stick..... Try rebooting then. Ive never heard of default audio devices changing before.

However this seems to be a similar problem

Code:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware/default-speakers-wont-stay-the-default/4208f2ab-b65f-4819-8d65-2816b54527cf

which is for win10 and I'll believe anything of that pos having spent a week fighting it on my wxsat laptop! Its a common problem & basically is an issue with the operating syatem

Not the best image ever as its still dark way out west & the house gets in the way of low elevation west passes.....

but Ive managed to get the whole of Greenland & hit Canada! :D

Greenland centre left
Canada far upper left & lower left
Svalbard in the sparklies top centre
Norway top right
Iceland just visible lower centre right

Now to get it in daylight

Popped the aerial up in to its permanent location.

It’s now about 4 foot above the garage roof.

First attempt at image compositing using Wxtoimg. All todays NOAA 19 passes just leaving sdr# on 137.098 (to allow for doppler) and wxtoimg running on its own to do its thing. (reduced size image as the original is too big for the forum!)

My 137MHz amp has arrived. The f-sma connector hasnt though so Ive swiped the one off my plane tracking system temporarily. :D

Its cleaning my signals up at the far north and south nicely. Just need to find a notch filter for sdr# now to reduce the bloody pocsag. The signal from the last north pass held up until the elevation was just 1.5 degrees :)

Heres a noaa 18 pass this evening with the amp in line Northbound 39W.

Notice the lack of sparklies far north and south of the image - and the big reduction in the poor signal caused by the house on west passes on mid elevation passes. (The lower elevation passes still get low signal caused by the house but the duration is reduced).

At the weekend I will see how far north west & east I can get again now :D

The aerial is about 4 foot above the garage roof. I am still using a pi with predict and WxtoImg and a uputronics filtered pre-amp.

Does it clear the surrounding houses and other stuff??

I have mine about 16 feet off the roof line, but I have some mountain ranges in the way in some passes of the birds.

It mounted on top of a 8 foot tv pole and c bracket holding on the side of the garage.

It’s clear of all obstacles and has a clear view of the sky’s 360°.

It’s on sat coax would that matter?
