That's a very good ping time :) is that rtt?

Paradoxically,in one of the poorest countries of the European Union,we have the internet speed extremely high at a very low price.Internet subscription for 500 Mbps cost 11 euros and for 1000 Mbps is 13 euro.
In virtual reality we live better than in real one :) At least so much to have...:)
I've done a test this morning:

When I had 100Mbps in Finland I struggled to find sites that could download at the full rate. I can see it being more useful for a busy family household wanting to stream and download over multiple devices at the same time. So now I've just got 50Mbps (10Mbps up) for half the price and it's still more than I need really and it only costs me 4.90 euro/month.

What I tend to need a lot more of is upload speed, especially in the UK. Since I work from home I tend to upload quite a lot and with some of our family being out of the UK spot beam we like to use Slingboxes, VPN, etc which also need a decent upload. Unfortunately in the UK we're still stuck on ADSL2+ with its crappy <1Mbps up.

FTTC 40/20 connection for a village in Co. Tyrone. Not bad, though upload speed is a bit slower than normal. Did a test on a EE 4G connection earlier and hit 55 Mbps download!

Not a huge choice in landline-based internet, local exchange is a Market 1/A though TalkTalk is available as well as FTTC offerings, though no ADSL2+ via BT. Very seriously doubt Virgin Media will ever reach here. Connections within towns and most villages are fairly good, but lots of people even just 2 miles outside of limits struggle with broadband speeds. A few have fixed-wireless, but one local provider in particular has not a good reputation for service.

And thats why i'm having Virgin fibre installed tomorrow. It used to be around 20mb down and 1.25 up when it ws first installed.

Can't say i will ever give BT any more money anytime soon.

Just a little better now :D

It gave me great pleasure to Tell BT what they could do with their Internet connection. I'm going to hammer the sh*t out of it until they finally switch it off :-lmao

Virgin in the past (back in 2011 on 50mbit) did a great deal of packet shaping and restricted download speeds if you downloaded too much. Which is rather pointless. Never again....

That's rather woeful... unless you pasted the wrong link.

I'm getting more than what i'm paying for. I dont play games online so its fine for what i need it for. It streams Netflix and NowTV fine and my browsing is fast. At least it doesn't go off when someone rings you like it used to on BT. Its also a lot cheaper than what i was paying BT for.

If i wanted 152mb/s it wouldn't be a problem, i would just have to make a phone call and i would have it within the hour, although as i said there would be little point as it would be overkill for what i need. If i wanted fibre from BT i would have to wait another year even though the cabinets have been in my street since early 2014. They just cant be arsed to switch them on.

I left them for the very same reason around 2010, Since then they have changed the policy no caps between 16:00 and 22:00 there so called peak time. They now only reduce the upload speed and the download is Unrestricted as long as you take an Over 30mb connection
