The FEC change means, reception has become impossible during the evening hours in South East Germany. It is still a bit easier to get the 2E BBC HD transponder than the ITV HD transponders on 2G, however those 1.4 dB you need more to get a stable signal with FEC 3/4 really mean either even...
This has been the strongest winter season of 2G since it began broadcasting here. Very good reception througout, often a 1m was sufficient 24 hours, even during the evening low.
Let's see how the summer will be, which is usually much weaker than in winter...
HEVC will be used as a video codec standard, they will broadcast all HD channels in 1080p50. However the commercial stations will become payTV - 5.75€ per month. They call it "freenet" however it is not really free...
It is HD, but they seem to have problems with the correct field order of the interlaced picture. This morning when they had those cartoons on, you could see aliasing effects.
They need to improve if they want to reach Channel 4 HDs quality level for example.
Dont forget to substract the NALU filler zeroes ! Most channels use them, so bitrates appear higher than they really are. All the ARD channels are using them, the BBC and ITV. Channel 4 HD only in a very limited way. Channel 4 HD is the reference channel for 1080i HD for me, BBC has gone too low...
11053H is now back to FEC 2/3. So appearently they wont change to 3/4.... good news for us fringies, especially because this transponder isnt weakend as much as the other ITV HD TP by the strong PE ones.
2E spot TPs very weak tonight, only 8dB with a 240cm channel master. I think I havent seen them that weak before must be some special event.
btw I have to de activate the flash plugin to be able to upload...
why would they move those data carriers to new freqs then ? 2C and 2G are quite similar in strength here, so it doesnt really matter if they broadcast those two data services or tv channels via 2G when it comes to making things more complicated.
The only explanation I can come up with now is...
