This is so frustrating.

It's not the wall causing the problem but I really don't know what is.

I have elevated the dish a good foot this morning and have had 83% Strength / 84% Quality on 10992V 27500 on Hotbird.

Nudged the dish around to 16e and 48% strength 20% quality on 11637V.

Switched LNBs just in case.

Taken the dish out into the back garden and it's no different.

I am now completely out of ideas.

Are you adjusting the LNB skew?

I have tried gradually moving it, makes very little difference to the signal quality.

Why isn't a dish 20cm bigger than my 64cm dish performing any better.

I just don't get it.

Bigger dishes require more accurate pointing - their acceptance angles are narrower. Thus the lnb skew is more critical too. If you are facing the dish the ports on the bottom of the lnb should be somewhere near "7 o'clock"

He's gotten Hotbird, which is 3 degrees West of 16E.
try 11324 V 30000 DVB-S2 8PSK 2/3

Just tried 11637 V 30000 DVB-S2 8PSK 2/3 and it's coming in at the same quality as the other frequency, I posted, well over 90%, on a 1.2M channel master.

Keep trying, but take a break, to think about things, otherwise you might get frustrated and give up.
Good luck, and please keep us updated.

Astra 1 seems a bit weak?

I’d have expected it to be stronger than Hotbird?

I'd have thought so too however Astra 1 is lower in the sky than Hotbird, perhaps it is the wall :confused

Across the stronger TP's on 16e the strength is 45% / 21% quality.

My meter has just died so charging it up so having a break.

My other option two options are I stick it on 1west with a motor or align it up on hotbird as perfect as I can and then stick another LNB on.

My motorised 1M Orbital used to get around 79-82% quality on DigitALB back in the day.

I have decided I am going to stick it on my eastern facing wall, I don't like this camping mount at all. Dish tipped backwards earlier, luckily I caught it.

I want to find 16e first to prove it is worth while though.

Just send your motorised dish to 16 e and look at its general shape in relation to elevation and skew. If you’re showing poor reception on anything west of 19e and it’s properly adjusted you could indeed be running into an obstacle. Any chance of RF sources of interference in that general direction.

Be VERY careful with flimsily mounted dishes - whilst working on my dish farm a few years ago Id dismounted a 1m & put it face upwards on the ground. The wind caught it & it went sailing across the yard. Fortunately it came to rest without doing any damage or hurting anyone. It did break the lnb holder though.

I use one of these, at my parents house:

Antiference-Non-Penetrating-Roof-Patio-Mount-3x2-Galvanised-1020-p.png

It's extremely secure, for their penta 85cm dish, especially if you put paving slabs in the base.

FWIW I get 11.1dB on 11637 V 30000 using a zone 2 with an unbranded universal LNB which is a comfortable 4.5dB margin - you should be able to receive it on either of your dishes.

You’ll have to translate that db figure to Quality percent for cwsat.

Not possible unless we have the same receiver.
